Cant decide which one i want to buy first, a 5 or a seven, just looking for some extra input, i own a 2 and an 11 already.
Thanks!
Brian

7 is one heck of a all arounder, but I've never owned a 5.
I'd say go for the 7 and then in a little bit, don't forget to save your allowance, keep your ear to the ground and check out what people say about the mag/mini mag. Go for whichever folk say is best.

Both are awesome. I own both. I say 7 first, then the 5. Just because of your use. You can certainly use both for bushcraft, i just think of the 2 you listed, the 7 may be the better choice. You should own both. You will own both eventually. Resistance is futile ! LOL :D

Ill play devils advocate. Bk5 until the cows come home. Faster lighter longer.....oh and sharper too :D. And prettier....

That 5 looks really sweet Clich. Can I borrow it to see what I'd like to buy next? My next will probably be the 7 cuz I like the specs and it looks all Bad A$$.

the west was won with knives like the 5

the 7? what's that? :)

If you cast a glane towards the years gone by, trail point knives were the ones that were on the hips of those that won us the frontier. That BK5 is a very versitile design, and will do anything you ask of it.

The BK7 "Little Black Dress" of the BKT lineup, is probably the most universal knives out there. Its a knife with a military design in mind, and is a personal favorite of mine. It was my first BKT.

I vote for the BK7, its a handful of versitility, that can't be matched.

We woulda won the west faster if they had machaxes instead. Gimme a machax and a tweener and I could take over a small country. If your going to get a 7 though you may as well jump right off and get a BK77.

I'd vote for the 7 also, but don't own a 5. The 7 is still my go to blade almost everytime, even just for fuzz stickes to play aroud in the fire place.

BK-5 is my first Becker and still my favorite. It will do just about anything. It's a suped-up carving knife which can also be a short machete, and I'd imagine it would really mess someone up bad in a fight. It's not a great heavy chopper though because the blade is a bit thinnish and lightweight, so pair it with a good tomahawk and you'll be unstoppable.

Mine has been in use for over a decade with many more years of service to go.

7 has quickly become my most used knife. GREAT all around user. Pretty much do anything.

Had a chance to use the 5 in the passaround, and it really impressed me.

But, if it's one or the other - the 7 would be my choice. JMHO

I had the mod-o-rama 7, and decided it's not my cup of tea.
If you want to stab at things, or baton, the 7 is probably better.
The trailing point and swedge on the 5 make it less than optimal for those activities.
However I WAY prefer the 5.

Quit screwing round and get the king of the jungle the one and only BK 9....that's my 2c worth

The 5 won knife of the year..... just sayin' :D

Although I do like my 7, I like my 5 just as much if not just a little more.

I vote 5!!

But you should get both; that just saves on time :D

My only knock against the 5 is its poor batoning functioning. I at least want the ability to baton.

I vote 7. one of the best allaround knives there is.
I love mine, and have stopped looking at larger fixed blades because of it. It's perfect IMO.
