That swedged spine will be a baton-eater. I guess the baton is sacrificial, but seems you'd get more force transmission with a wider spine that doesn't bite as much into the wood. Doesn't mean you can't do it!

Sure it will eat the baton, but hhhmmmmm where can I get a new one??? Oh wait right here next to me from this pile here that I've already made.
