This is a very interesting knife.
A beefy , bowie-esque blade merged with a 21st century handle and sheath.

Very nicely put together. Sharp as a laser.
The handle is nicely sized around the .188 stock used for this knife.

Thumb ramp is not too abrasive, and quite comfortable. Finally a thumb ramp I like.

The grinding is as well executed as the sharpening.

The edge is approx .030" and has a very steep sharpening bevel, making for just about perfect edge geometry for a hard-use combat blade.

The sheath is very similar to the various Eagle, Blackhawk, Strider, Busse sheaths out there with a nylon outer and a kydex internal liner/stiffener. Very well done, and in a pleasing dark olive green.

The elastic utility pouch is just the right size for a spare pistol magazine, sharpener, zippo, leatherman, or whatever your heart desires.

I am extremely pleased with this knife. It is probably the best deal going on the market (around $50 bucks on the 'net) for a hard-use combat knife. No rubber handle to break. No useless fuller. No hard-to sharpen stainless steel. A real-world sheath.

I like it.

I got the two I'd ordered yesterday, and gave one to my best friend last night (we went ahead and got Christmas out of the way-he and his wife gave me a knife, too:)).
We are both very happy with the knives.
Like Anthony said, it's the best deal going.
My friend commented that I had spent too much, so I told him the price. I don't think he believed me...

This definitely looks like another winner from Camillus. I'll probably get one sooner or later.

Mine arrived yesterday. Anthony, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Given a choice of the BK7 or one of the standard issue USMC fixed blades, I'd pick the BK7. I really like how light the knife feels, it actually looks heavier than it really is. Feels agile in the grip yet very secure. I can't wait to use it this weekend :)

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about the Cordura sheath. But upon closer examination I changed my mind. It is very well made and the thick Kydex liner gives rigidity to the whole package. The addition of the accessory pouch is a really nice touch.

Kudos to Camillus and Ethan Becker for another excellent hard use blade!

Dex,

Nylon (Cordura, propex, whatever) with a kydex stiffener is probably the best sheath for a battle blade. It is iminently better than kydex for a number of reasons.

1)Weight-it is substantially lighter
2)Comfort-Kydex can be uncomfortable when worn on a belt.
3)Noise-kydex is noisy when you bang into a wall, furniture, car door etc. Nylon is not
4)Cost.

When I opened the box this really great knife fell into my hands.

Anthony and Dexter beat me too it. I couldnot say it any better. The knife feels like a pen knife when held. Balance almost perfect, the weight disapears in the hand. The handle scales fill your hand without being too big. Seams to be a very secure grip, I'll know more after a little outdoor use.

I tried it in the kitchen chopping onions. Worked just as good is the Chief's knives.

So far GREAT JOB everyone at Camillus.

My knife arrived today, it's really a great knife. The only problem is that there is no shealth for it in the box. What a disappointment!! This is a Christmas gift for a friend and I guess I have to only present this bare knife on Christmas now. Sent a email to onestopknifeshop, but don't expect a reply before Christmas. The knife is really great, hope the shealth is the same.

I got mine today also. It's a super knife, clearly superior to the Mk 2. The only thing that would make it better would be a single guard, a little longer , and wider, than the one on the mk 2. Probably not that important, I just am paranoid about my fingers. Good work Will, Ethan, and Camillus!

Sheng,
First off, I would like to apologize for whatever happened on our end that kept you from getting your sheath with your knife. I dunno what could have screwed up on our end, but we were doing our best to get these knives to 1sks in time to ship for XMAS. Our fault not Kevin's @ 1sks.

I just found this post this morning, along with a forwarded email that you sent to 1sks last night. I was sitting here trying to figure out what to do[CAMILLUS is shut down until after the first of the year], when Ethan Becker called. I told Ethan about the problem, and he is going to town and ship you the sheath off his personal knife. He is not sure how fast he can get it there, this being the Saturday before XMAS, but I would say that it will be there by the day after XMAS at the latest. I don't know if he will be able to get anything out on Saturday to your door on Monday, but he is gonna try!

Anyway, I would like to apologize again, and thank you for your patience. Most of all, thanks for being a customer!

Now I know how to spell "customer service";
"W I L L F E N N E L L"
!!!(don't mean to leave out "E T H A N B E C K E R")
You guys are just too much!
;) ;) :D ;)
Mine has yet to arrive, but when she saw my post earlier in the week about how I was hoping it would arrive before Christmas, Cheryl @ CR Specialties tracked the shipment and emailed me with an update. Now this is all on her own, I never asked her to check on it, just another great person going above and beyond.
They have always taken care of me in the past, they will continue to get my Camillus orders in the future!!
Thanks

Dear Mr.Fennel,

My Goodness, I didn't expect this little problem disturbed so many people, especially in such a holiday season when every one is supposed to be with his family. I am sorry, Sir. I don't deserve all these people running for me at this time of a year just for a knife shealth.

I have been hearing a lot of good stuff about 1SKS and Camillus's service, but didn't know it is so good. I got both Kevin's and your email, thank both of you very much!

What can I say? Camillus is great! 1SKS is great!

Merry Christmas to every one!

Anthony / Will, The BK-7 looks (from the few photos I've seen) like it might
be a working cross between the combat "K-bar" and the old quartermaster's knife
that Catterugus made during WWII. Could it be??

As a long time fan of Camillus cutlery I'm looking REAL hard at the BK-7 as a
campmate to rotate with my Buck Nighthawk. In a way I like the belly on the
BK-7 just a bit more than my 'Hawk. Also how flat is the grind?? Can't tell from
the photos with the black blade.

One thing for sure.........It is really great that Camillus priced this knife where the
average Joe can afford one. Really nice of them, yes it is. I hope they sell bunches.

Tightwad,
I really hadn't looked at it that way, but I guess the BK&T COMBAT/UTILITY has some of the same lines as the old Quartermaster's knife. It was designed from the ground up to fill the same set of needs as the 7" Marine Combat[ also know as the 7" Fighting/Utility ].

The blade is flat ground up to within about .25" or so of the top of the blade. I'm on someone else's computer now, but I think I have the measurements in another thread on this forum. Here is a link to some more info......

Thanks for the interest!

Ah, Yes!!! The BK-7 just moved into the spring time BUY column on my budget.

While not really caring to much for the old "ka-bar" design I do like the quartemaster
toughness. The BK-7 is a "just right" version in new materials / design to fill my needs
in the field. All from Camillus to boot !!

Recieved one for Christmas. Knife is well made and is literally hair popping sharp. Shealth is Kydex lined to my surprise. Overall a fantastic package for the money. I can't wait to get my Fisk bowie from this great company. I hope I am as pleased with it as I am the Combat/Utility knife.

Has anyone got to chop something with the BK7 yet? I find the KaBar to be a marginal chopper. The 225Q is a much better one except it is not blade heavy enough. So, is the BK7 what I'm looking for?

I gave My three sons one for christmas. They were very impressed as I was with the BK7. Ethan out did himself this time. Great knife for the value.

I got one for Christmas, It is just as stated a utilty field knife, I could see the U S Army making this the offical issue combat knife, it is great, I think it will fill a mixed bag of task while in the bush, from busting open ammo crates to slicing open MRE's and anything else that might come along, I wraped the handle with black wax cord, the type you sew leather with, it is thin and worked well. (pics to come)
It will be it the field this week so I will send more info. on its use. :)
