BK-7 Revisited

I can't remember which one it was...but the handle scales of one of them did loosen a little after a good bit of chopping. I then torqued the screws on both knives and neither of them loosened any after that.

Thanks, that not the first stuff that knife has busted either lol.

Thanks man, it one of my favorite Nietzsche quotes.

Thanks Bob, yes they do hold an edge very well! Yeah, it's pretty knotty, I need to see if I can find a section with less knots for a bigger hearth board but that one was good for demonstrating the toughness of this knife :)

Thanks Riley, the BK7 is definitely of of my favorite large knives. I need to order a set of the micarta grips for it and see what they're like.

A cheap S&W Boot knife. I wanted something to carry in my boot.

I used my BK9 to chop down a couple small Cedars on the property today. It's one of my favorite big knives.I've chopped quite a bit with mine as well without changing the factory edge.Just touchups on the ceramics and a few licks on the strop. It still scares the hair off my arm,had the BK9 since 02 or 03,not too shabby.

Reminds me of a time when I traded an old bone handled case bowie knife to a new-found friend in Gulfport. He was a "Brown Water Navy" veteran turned shrimp boat owner down in the gulf. I met him while hiking/hitchhiking back to Dallas and he paid me to help him do some painting and help with some repairs on a second boat he'd bought. When he saw the bowie in my pack with the sharpened swedge he said it could get me in a lot of trouble in Texas where double edged knives are highly illegal. I asked if he wanted to trade it for that old pilot survival knife on his side. He said sure but it wasn't a fair trade that that knife didn't cost him anything, he had traded another knife that was issued to him for it back in 'nam, so he threw in a canteen as well since I didn't have any kind of water bottle. When I finished the painting and headed out a couple of weeks later he slipped a note in my pack along with two fifties and five twenties, the note said "This makes me feel a lot better about that trade, I like being able to sleep at night, take care out there". The funny part was that having handled the pilot's knife and hearing the stories of his exploits in Vietnam...and getting lots of advice and insight over a couple of weeks... plus knowing I was now carrying a small part of a great person along on my journey with me I had already decided I had gotten the better end of that trade. I can still clearly recall his face....but his name now escapes me.

excellent pics! i love my bk9.

I like the BK7 better, it's more versatile, and utilitarian....but the BK9 is very impressive in its own right.

I belong to a lot of forums and collect a lot of knives including very many Beckers,
This is the only place you will see pictures like these, knives used for what they were made for. STRONG ENOUGH TO ABUSE AND CHEAP ENOUGH NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT.
what else can you buy like this for less than $100.
Keep it up Ethan and Keep them coming

And though I am in danger of sounding like a broken record, the marriage of Becker and KA-BAR is win win win. I again recently had the opportunity to experience KA-BAR's customer service. Second to NONE! Keep it up Ethan, keep it up KA-BAR! BZ

BK&T + Ka-Bar makes a good combination alright, but I'm also really looking forward to seeing the BK&T + ESEE collab that's in the works too.

I am looking at the Becker 7 and 10 I think I like the 7 better

Lee

Lol again :D

The 7 is very capable knife what knives do you currently own ?

Maybe there's a gap that one or the other would fit better of course you need them both though lol

I know your new but just so yah know threads from over 1 year or so are considered dead and it's not well liked if you bring them back.

The BK7 is a great blade. They call it the Combat Utility for a reason. It is a great allarounder and with the BK13 that it comes with there is nothing that mine cant handle.

I bought a BK10 just to round out my BK lineup, but I've got a PILE of BK7's because it's so freakin' awesomely sweet that I couldn't help myself every time I spotted a good sale.

The world's full of great blades if you know what you're looking for. Ultimately it's what YOU want in a knife. For me the BK7 is on the short list of mid-sized/large knives that I could answer the "just one" question with if I had too. The whole Becker lineup is awesome, and you'll find fans of every model. There's a good chance you'll get the Becker bug, and end up with many BK's before the dust settles...................and then kick yourself that you missed out on the discontinued ones. I'd start with the BK7 though, and and see if you still itch for a BK10 after that. BTW, the BK9 would be my next pick after the 7.

Owning many Beckers the 7 is by far my favorite for size and aesthetics.

Love them all the 2 and 10, and the 9 and 20 but the 7 is just right.
