Does anyone have both of these, so I could see a side x side comparison shot? thanks.

I may get flamed here for this, but I've owned both and the Junglas has better fit and finish than the BK9 does. The handles just felt better on the ESEE to me. Also, the ESEE held the edge longer when chopping. I don't think you could go wrong with either knife, but my vote would go to the Junglas by a bit. This is just my own opinion though.

Ill be interested to see this also. Specs are helpful but i always find myself surprised at how big or small a knife actually is when i get it.

See here is the problem, I want a chopper and Ive already had the ESEE and sold it it because the handle was way to big for my medium sized hands. Wanted to see if the BK-9 had a some what shorter handle.

You can sort of see here. It's not my pic, I just searched for it.

I believe that handle is a little shorter. I'll look up the specs too. :)

I have both. Looks like you already got a pic. Here's my take on the knives:

The ESEE obviously does have better fit and finish. That's not to say the Bk9 is bad... it's just a working knife... and it needs the micarta handles. With the Junglas, the micarta is hand fit to every blade at the factory... so it's a perfect match.

The Junglas is a BIG knife though. It's a heavy, and FFG make is a very good chopper. The BK9 is much more nimble in the hand. It feels more like a knife and less like a small sword. The BK9 is better at knife tasks than the Junglas. It's a hard decision. I really like both... if you want a fully dedicated chopping and batoning blade... go with the junglas... if you want more functionality that's still good at chopping and batoning... go with the BK9.

The Junglas does have a much better sheath... but cool fact of the day: The Junglas sheath fits the BK9 quite well - and you can order just the sheath for about $65. Sure, you can get custom kydex from azwelke, godspeed, etc... but I like the molle back that the Junglas sheath comes with. I do actually have an azwelke sheath for both my BK9 and BK2 though... he does good work, even if it's little bit too tight for my tastes.

That M-18 is one sick piece.

The Junglas is a fine big chopper. The BK9 is far more versatile and you'll find yourself carrying it more often.

Thanks for the pics guys! I'll give the bk9 a try, the handle is a shorter. Any chances of getting a girth measurement for the handles? Thanks again!

Knife/Chopper/Machete is what I need in my neck of the woods. Paul is an Awesome Hard Use Knife maker & I am blessed owning my 2.
GZilla is 1080, 1/4" think high flat ground for chopping weight & 3/8" tall convex, 10" of sharp past coil & long dropped handle for Heavy duty chopping.
A friend had told me he would like to see the junglas & GZilla go at it. I lobe the look of both of those blades. Not challenging, just love Using knives HARD;)
