Started this project this week. I saw Wayne Goddards Rambo knife had these and Jeff Crowner uses them too. thought I'd give it a try.

I'll update later tonight.

The rubber has a rough side and smooth side.

This looks like a cool one. I will enjoy seeing the finished project buddy.

So is this for aesthetic purposes or would they act as shock absorbers when chopping?
I see this as two projects, first the green liners with the standard Grivory scales, and the rubber horse mat as a stand alone grip.

The liners are first and foremost to add some thickness to the standard grip. I'm 6'6" and my hands are big. Secondly they might look cool.

Now the rubber is ass ugly but by many accounts wears very well and is very comfy. And Yes shock absorbtion

I should add that I have a lot of work to do on these and I'm figuring it out as I go.

I feel like an idiot for not thinking about adding liners like that. Good idea! The rubber seems cool too.

Oh, and the liners are from an X box game case. "Full Spectrum Warrior" in case anyone was wondering.
And I did steal this idea from somebody at Bushcraft usa also. You know, full disclosure.

heck, i'd like green liners just on my regular bolt on handles. good idea.

good stuff. i'm actually thinking of adding liners to the bk-9 to thicken the grip up to the bk-2's size.

How about some Glow in the dark liners?!! Maybe drill some holes and fill them with GITD too.

THAT, is a damn fine idea. Never lose your knife in the woods.

The pictures are kinda crappy, thats my bad. I haven't used it in years.

I was able to use the Becker stock hardware, just barely though, and I think the plastic liner material could be polished up a bit more to make it pop.

Tritium would be pretty cool too, though knife handles are probably a bad application for it. Have to see if I can find mold making material and some GITD material that can be formed. Here goes some more dinero....

Adding a liner would be super easy to do to trick out a becker.

What exactly is the rubber material that you are using? I'm not familiar with it and am interested......

It is rubber pad. Horse trailer mat.

Also, what thickness liners did you use?

I have some liner material at my house that I haven't gotten a chance to use yet.......and probably some paracord to match at least one of the colors. If not, I could order either-or.

I think I want to get yellow liners and yellow and black paracord lanyard and call it 'The Killer Bee' (I am trademarking this idea with this post) :)

Damn those actually look pretty slick, good job.

I thought it was going to be fugly........

I might have to make me a pair

That is really sweet! You said you used rubber horse mat (and maybe I missed this part), but what thickness did you use? I have a few Ontario knives and really like the feel of the rubber handles especially when batoning.

Nice work! I have seen the competition choppers with the horse mat handles. Let us know how it works out on your Becker.
