BK 9 grip project Horse mat and green liners

I like the look of that green.

My little brother has some Xbox games, he might be missing a case soon.... :D

Alright, so the rubber mat is 1/2'' thick and just to be clear none of the pictures of the grips on the BK9 are rubber mat. I gonna do more shaping on those tomorrow hopefully.
And they will look fugly, no doubt there.

All of the pictures thus far of grips on knife with green liner are the stock Grivory plus green liner.
Apologies if this has caused confusion. Admittedly I should have made this 2 different threads.

The liners are .052 thick and the blade is .193 thick by my chinese, starret knock off. I mention that because I was understanding the thickness to be .188 based on a thread I was reading from a couple years ago.

That is a really good idea, how is the retention done? Does the material give at all or is it really solid?

I would be concerned with pulling the nut through them due to over tightening.

I just used the standard cap screws but longer (3/4) and the standard nuts. I does have some give but it's not sloppy by any means.

Pull through is a very valid concern and they might, testing needed. I may have to put a small washer in there to give more surface area.

Where do you get the liner material? What is it made out of?

Sorry I'm a noob!
Hey, me too.

It's "Full Spectrum Warrior" green. X box game case. Idea stolen from Bushcraft usa. There I've paid homage twice, from here on out I claim it as my own.

You might want to try a connecting bolt and sleeve nut.

I like the Green on the Grivory..THat looks cool. Great idea.

Mats look kinda cool actually. Will be cool to see after they're contoured and shaped a bit more. Great ideas man.

I don't see how I missed this thread.. Great work!!!

I really like it, what did you use to cut the liner and rubber with??

also you know what I'd like see is orange liner that would look sweet, I like orange/black combo..

Thanks for the encouraging replies, I sorta put this project on hold till I could get the fasteners figured out. I did just friday night get some of those connecting bolts from a few posts up. I bought too large of a diameter, so I'm gonna have to try again.
I cut the rubber mat with my leatherman wave, knife blade, pain in my ass.
Cut the green liner with a pair of shears very similiar to sheet metal shears.

coincidently, I've been using the green liners as templates for all the wood grips I've been making.
