BK 9 micarta handles by ranger $20

Ranger knives ask for justin I was the first to ask him for some as they are custom made for the Beckers you would have to send your knife in and he will put them on for you. But I already removed the coating on the satin finished knives otherwise he said he would have to remove the coating since they made for that knife then he made another extra pair which he sent to me for my BK9 that was still black coated since the handles are exactly the same.

Ah, I see, I just thought that someone was selling the scales.

I'll maybe ask him if he can send a set without me having to send a Becker to him as all the holes are in the same place

I do like the Beckers a lot. :)

Here is my modified BK10:

cool picture i like the crewman the best how did you get that satin finish? like i said i was the first to order them and i don't think he has the patern for them he might have to start all over but it is worth a shot also he can make them green, tan or black.

Thanks. :)

I sanded the BK10 by hand after stripping off the black coating.

Took me a long time, but, the results were worth it I think.

I just read on another forum that knives and swords are going to be banned in Scotland due to high levels of knife crimes? What is happening with all that? Is it really that bad? I'm sure you won't be parting with that fine piece of steel you have.

Never believe what you read or hear in the media. ;)

They are chewing over legislation regarding "licensing the SALES of non domestic knives" which is as stupid as it sounds.

I hope one day they realise that inanimate objects are not capable of crime.

Cheers.

What in the hell are they going to do, put serial numbers on every blade and then have a ten day waiting period before you can pick up your new knife or sword? Yes it sounds very stupid.

U can order directly from Camilius for $20, and u can replace them urself. I ordered a pair today.
Call Camillius at 315-672-8111, and ask for Wendey in sales.

Thanks for the pointers Bearthedog

I've emailed Justin. :)

Cheers.

And now they are installed on a modified Campanion. :)

Big thanks to Bear the Dog and Justin at Ranger Knives.

Thanks Bear. :)

They are the Black linen Micarta ones..same as you've got.

I just spent a bit of time smoothing them out. ;)

Cheers.

soup monger,

those modified knives look fantastic..........I must admit that I thought that your campanion looked like it had G10 as well! How much time DID you spend prettying them UP?

Cerberus :)

Well.. if I'm honest.

They took about 4 months each to go from stripping the black coating off to posting the photos on here. :(

Refinishing a heat treated blade is a lengthy process (especially when they are as rough and pitted as these two were) and I didn't work on it every day, just when I felt like it.

Next in the modding queue is a BK7...

I'll need to psych myself up for that one. :D

Cheers. :)

I ran across the pictures of you BK10 and BK2 and was blown away at the difference over the Factory Black finish.

In light of your pictures and Arroy1101 I opted to take a chance and bought a BK9, BK2 and a BK1. I have since added to the in route list a BK7 and 10 for winter projects.

My BK9 now have been stripped, thumb rest ground flush and the upper edge cleaned up for a somewhat Traditional Bowie profile and still nowhere near the looks of either of your knives.

A couple questions, how about just buy the Micarta material and make scales......You are reworking then anyhow. I checked on the Micarta Panels Becker/Camillus has and at $31.00 and still use Allen bolts and nuts. The Ranger Panels are better in the fact (in my opinion) that they use flathead Allen screws but you didn't use those and ground away at the Ranger Panels.

You can get a block of Black or Natural Canvas Micarta for about $4.00....Dirty sanding them down but you get what you want.

Also have you thought about a cheap 1x30 belt sander for about $35.00 US, it makes a world of difference with the right belts. It still takes time but it beats trying the even semi polish one of these blades.

I mean no disrespect, just tossing out a few options that might be cheaper or more labor/time effective.
