BK-9? Those who have one...

They are good for almost any knife task...my primary use is clearing limbs and vines. Working in the yard or around the farm...clearing fences, mostly stuff around finger to wrist sized. I use a machete for small viny brush, and a Stihl on anything larger.

I also use it around the house some, makes a good watermelon cutter. The 9 is a great design...it is a large knife but can be used like a small one. I have made feathersticks, whittled trap triggers...and some folks clean fish with theirs.

There aint a whole lot a BK9 CAN'T do...

It's my go to cold weather knife, in the summer I usually have a 4 inch blade. I use it to chop, split, and baton hard wood, but also for smaller jobs like food prep and feather sticks. It's by far my favorite knife I own, especially now with azwelke kydex and micarta scales.

Mine is mainly used for yard work or taken when hiking. I did use it recently to remove some shrubs from the front yard and it worked perfectly. Was going to take pictures but it was just way too hot out so I was in a hurry :)

just got mine. used it to clear some brush and limbs in the backyard. going canoeing tomorrow and will bring it along in case we run into any hungry gators! lol

It's my work knife when I'm hunting (all fall, winter, and most of the spring). It's great for big tasks like chopping, snap-cutting and batoning large stuff, but surprisingly good as well for the smaller tasks. It's a fantastically well-designed knife.

I use it like a camp hatchet. It actually chops better than my hatchet, is easier to carry, and has more uses. Its also lighter.

Seems like a pretty easy decision for me.

If I were testing it, I would try chopping, batoning, and some other large knife tasks (tent pegs, simple triggers, etc). Its obviously not going to be the best knife ever for small tasks, but when you try it, you'll be surprised how versatile it is as a all around blade.

Here is my review I did of the 9 if that helps you any.

Everything :D

...well, except cleaning game. I haven't tried that with the 9, yet.

It's a good chopper, but still has proper blade geometry for effective slicing, which is not the case in many large choppers. It can handle big tasks and small.

I found a Camillus 9 a while back that I'd forgotten about. Going to put some Ka-Bar scales on it and beat it.

Nothing. Highly overrated. You should just send it to me.:D

Dang-just reread the OP and noticed "to test".

Thanks guys! I will try to run the BK-9 thru some trials this weekend and take some pics to tell a story. My yard needs to be cleaned up and why not have the 9 as a helper! Have a great weekend guys!

I use mine for cutting grape vines off trees at my mom's farm. Batoning logs at elk camp etc...

I use mine anywhere I can. Outdoors, Indoors, in "The Sand Box", at work...my goal is to keep it with me for a full year. The only area I won't use it is in bed...yet!

I have the Hog Hunter version. It glows to warn me when I'm in the presence of zombie squirrels.

I love my 9! Believe it or not I use it all of the time for trimming the rose bushes in my backyard, sounds odd but it works REALLY well for this task. I also like it as my pack knife on longer excursions into the woods (too big to be a belt knife IMO, obviously that's not true for everyone so to each their own).

Just had my BK-9 (my first Becker by the way!) recently and it's first excursion was backyard cleanup work which performed very very well! No ifs ands ors buts about this knife!
