As has been said, there isn't a whole lot the BK9 can't do.

It was my biggest blade until I got the Junglas. The Junglas is definitely a better chopper... but it's significantly larger and heavier. The Junglas certainly can't perform the smaller tasks that the BK9 can.

The BK9 is an excellent do-everything woods blade. Chopping, batoning, carving, slicing, looking pretty, being intimidating... it'll do whatever you ask of it. If you do get one... do yourself a favor and get a nice kydex sheath for it. You'll find it to be much more functional.

Smiting mine enemies!

Rar.

It's a great all around tool. Good for chopping, slicing, poking, and anything else you can imagine a knife doing, short of really stupid things. And it's pretty good at those too. And surprisingly light!

About the only thing the BK9 can't do as well as some designs is be used effectively as a stabbing implement. However that's more an issue related to the handle than the blade design itself.

The 2 splits, the 5 slices, the 7 fights, the 11 opens longnecks, the 9 chops, batons, slices, fights and makes me feel happy. The 9 is the go to knife for grabbing just one blade and running for the hills. I never feel under-knifed when I hold it. Slide a good sharpening stone or diamond slab in the sheath's pouch and head out. I've batoned mine through seasoned oak, watching the blade warp and bend in the process. And when the wood finally split, the knife came out perfectly straight and asking me "Is that all you've got?" I can use it. It demands to be used. It is the anti-safequeen. And it comes with a sheath (I'm looking at you, Busse.) I'll never get rid of mine. It's the first Ka-Bar made Becker I purchased. If I lose it, I'll immediately replace it with a new one. If it were the only knife model Ethan Becker ever made, he would still be one of the greats in the cutlery world. To not have a BK 9 is unthinkable to me. And if I sound over-the-top to you, you probably don't own one.

I use mine for everything. It's great for grabbing firewood or clearing trails, but light enough for smaller tasks. And lately for cutting pizza! Ever since I moved I can't find my pizza cutter, something I keep forgetting until after I cook a pizza. I think it is the closest thing to a "one-and-only" knife for any task.
