It is a Hackberry (nasty tree) that I had cut a few years ago to just the trunk (15 feet tall).Thought it would die but they seem to be impossible to kill.Now I have to climb up in it and take out all the new growth.

I like hackberry has a cool bark and is a hard wood good for heat.

I like hackberry has a cool bark and is a hard wood good for heat.

The problem I had with it was it was very large,stuck between garage,fence and neighbors house,all very close.That was why I could not have the trunk cut shorter.
Then there were the new aphid critter that got imported from china a few years ago.They love the Hackberry and bite tiny holes in the leaves making the tree rain a nasty grey-brown sap all summer.
