Bk-9

I handled one and I was really impressed by it. Handle was very comfy, good balance and makes you just want to go out and chop something. At about $80, the BK-9 is king of the budget priced big chopper knives. At a slightly higher cost range you can consider the Ontario produced RD-9 or the Browning-Crowell competition blade.

BK9....great blade, its my go to chopper every time......dont go to the woods without it...

The BK9 is the biggest Becker. the new Kabar BK9 is .190 thick, & the older Camillus BK9 is .210 thick. Either is a great blade. I have two of the older ones & will probably get one of the new ones.

The handle is a little thinner than my BK1, and I think more comfortable as a result. It chops really well des0pite being lighter than the BK9. I like it A LOT! Plus if you order know, you get a little neck knife called the BK13, that has its own little spot behind the pouch on the sheath.

Most all of them were coming with the BK-13, seems like no matter where you got them.

If you want a 9" blade, I don't think there is much not to like about them. They are fairly light for their size, and still chop and split well. You end up being in real chopper territory, rather than ending up with a middle of the road knife that doesn't do anything very well.

[RANT] Not to zero you out AnyCal - but why do so many people throw in a digs like that???? Mid-sized blades have their place and yet everybody likes to throw a little mud their way just because they aren't the best choppers out there. Some people see versatility as a plus rather than a negativism [/RANT]

Thanks guys I sold my Heavy Bowie a while back. This one sounds good. I had the Old BK-7.
