We all love our Becker knives. What's not to love? Quality, performance, ergonomics, value, Ka-Bar and, of course, Uncle E.
Mine do not get the tough love that they deserve as I (and they) need more dirt time.
Who among us does not like to view the pics of those scraped and scratched Beckers that have processed wood, opened canned goods and gosh knows what else? Then again, there is something to behold for those stripped and mirror polished Beckers that are nothing short of knife porn - particularly when festooned with nice handles and fancy sheaths. There are those here among us that have devoted the time and skill necessary to make their Becker knives quite literally shine. Whenever I see some shiny production fixed blade of a size and style similar to something in the Becker range, I say to myself, what can that knife do that one of my Beckers can't?
This got me to thinking, Ka-Bar itself could offer a Custom Shop treatment for Becker knives and offer a premium line so to speak. Then again, some enterprising hobbyist/enthusiast could probably keep himself in beer money stripping and polishing Becker knives.
All of the above may be heresy to those who want Beckers to work for a living and Uncle E may suspend or even strip me of my Beckerhead status for suggesting that work horses be dressed up as show horses but it's all meant in love and adoration for the product.
