I've been looking at some WSK / tracker designs lately.
They look really interesting, have a share of lovers and haters...
Tops managed to make a production model, the Tracker.
I thought they'd fit in the Becker lineup perfectly... there's an idea :D

I blended some of Dave Beck's work with Ethan becker's work and voila...
the idea of the BK-WSK is born

Oh, and Mr. Becker, if you read this and start to make these I'll be happy to receive one of them as a thank you for this great idea ;)

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

Edit:

Specs in post # 9 ;)

Nay. Some Becker knives might be a buit overbuilt, but this one is 'overkilled'. Not for me. The idea behind a BK&T knife (afaik) is purpose, and I just don't see any practical purpose for something like this. Might be me though.

wow... didn't see that coming, it's big, and I like it :D
How did that on this earth... as a BK-9? Or completely custom?

The M-18 is a custom knife from Todd Hunt. IIRC Murph asked Todd to make basically a TB Tracker with a Becker handle, there's a couple pics of that floating around on here somewhere. Anyway Todd though he could take that concept and make it better. And the M-18 was born.

What about specs?

That more like it :D
I imagined it something like this:
Somewhere about 11" long, 0.25"thick
m390/D2/O1/1095 steel
Canvas micarta handle slabs
leather scout style sheath (but kydex sheaths make me smile as well).

To each their own, but not for me. Have never been interested in that knife at all. Now, the M18...

I still don't like it, sorry but anything that can do the bk 2 can do better :D no offense

The TMHunt M-18 works because it's big enough that the different grinds are actually useful. On a shorter blade, not so much.

Visually, the Tracker-style knife has never appealed to me, but I've not actually USED one for WSK purposes, so I can't comment on its functionality. I don't care for saw teeth on a knife's spine, but the Tracker has an open spot for pressing on the blade, so that function may not be compromised. If the Tracker design is a functional tool, I thin knoefz's Becker-Tracker would be a good rendition.

How about a keychain-sized one, about 4" long tip-to-tail, no saw.
I like how it looks with the BK handle, but it's still an oddball blade. I've not held the TOPS version, but have handled a custom one a bit. Of course that had a sharpened swedge instead of a saw because it was going into combat...

Yeah, thats the nutshell version. I did indeed make a knife for Murph that he called the Grunt. A WSK with Becker handles. looks just like the one you posted at the top of the thread knoefz. Actually I made 5 or 6 of them. hated every one. I liked the concept but like Terrio said. in a small package its pretty much a useless knife. So, having said that I tried to make a knife that actually did the things that the Tracker claimed it could do, and like bigghoss says, the M-18 was born. There is a few pics of Murphs Grunt floating around here on BF somewhere, but I couldnt tell ya where, im trying to forget that knife if you wanna know the truth. But to each there own.

I'm in agreement with everyone else here. To each their own, but it doesn't appeal to me. Just doesn't seem practical, and I'd never want to dull it; sharpening it looks like a sonofagun.

Tracker always seemed to be all but useless to me. Fine idea but just doesnt come together. Speaking of TM Hunt, the M-9 is the shizzzznit. I love that knife and want one bad. Good job with the mock up though, I like that your wheels are a turning.

Same here. I want me some M-9. It gives me tinglies in my downstairs.

A Heavy Warthog is about the same size as your WSK without all the extra "features". Carry that with a Mora, a leatherman, and a laplander and you'll be way better off.
