I know that most of what this model has going for it is the "cool factor"...but I'm thinking I might have to start keeping my eyes open for one. (There's one on the place; but I'm not paying $300)
Kinda makes me wish I hadn't passed on some of the ones I saw last year.

Of course, if I score a Brute, I'll feel compelled to buy a 10; and I don't really like that idea.

I've always liked the look of the brute, but heard it doesn't chop as well as the BK9 so I never really had any urge to buy one. I guess it's because I'm a user not a collector.

I'm a user and a collector. I have a Brute and I like the looks, but from a true user perspective, while the 1 does well, I think the 9 seriously outperforms the 1.

+1 In my use both the 9 and the 4 are better options than the 1. Of course if I didn't have either the 9 or the 4 I'd be hammering away at woody things with the 1 and probably think it was great.

User, collector....whatever. Nothing named the Brute should sit in a safe. This thread needs pitchers.

Here's Dresnor taking some of the new off at the Radeke Gathering last spring. You'll notice it is making some nice curls.

While all the things are true about the 9 and 4 being better performers, etcetera....blah blah blah...the Brute out batons the both of them due to it's splitting wedge edge thickness. I'm going to thin out the edge on mine and put some slimmer scales on and beat it some more. It is, more than anything else, a very impressive hunk o' steel to wield.

mmmmm....bacon.

The Brute is definitely cool.
It's big and heavy. The BK9 outperforms it.
But it's just so cool! Lol
With a little work on the edge, it really would make an all around great beater in camp and a great addition to any BK&T lineup.

Yeah, I think I saw the same one on the internets that's going for $300 and for the life of me I couldn't justify spending that much...

There are other knives that I'd rather have for the same price tag.

I love my brute but for pure chopping ability it does fall short of the 9 and the 4... Granted it looks bad ass and handles very well but I mostly use mine around the shed... My 9 and 4 typically are the big blades I take on outings...I still take an axe and folding saw but always have a large becker with me.. As well as the usual assortment of smaller beckers as well

Like everyone else said, the 9 and 4 outperform it, but it's still a hell of a blade.

I knew this thread would convince me.
The Brute is officially back on my list. (I'm not starting the timer because this could take a while)
