  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

BK11, Eskabar, or Izula

14 with aftermarket scales if you have medium to small hands and an izula 2 if you have larger hands.
if you can afford it, get the izula 2 with kit -- costs more, but you get the belt clip plate, fire steel, etc... and is well worth the extra $$ as the basis for an altoid tin sized kit.

Buy all three, Triggahappy. Seriously. :D

But if you have to get just one, I'd either get an Eskabar with the factory scales, or a Necker with some Tommythewho wood scales to give you a longer grip. I love both. The Izula II I haven't got yet. I just see no reason to; the Beckers are excellent.

That said, I'm gonna agree with C-bear and recommend the 16. For an urban EDC, the smaller knives are easier to pack around, but for an outdoor knife, when concealability isn't a real factor, I like the longer Tweeners, since you can use different parts of the longer blade for different tasks, so the edge won't dull as quickly. I find myself sharpening the little blades a lot more often than my Tweeners.

Or you could do what I do and carry both a long and short Becker in the field, just to cover every base.

I really love my 14 and I also really love my 11. However I am starting to like my 11 more. Not really sure there is just something about it. I know the sizes are almost the same but the 14 just feels like bigger knife. I can see the 14 being more comfortable in hard use or extended use but for EDC I would probably grab the 11. I just love it.

My thoughts...

BK14 w/ zytel handles > Izula w/ micarta handles

Izula II w/ micarta handles > BK14 w/ zytel handles

No experience with the BK11 yet, so I really can't comment.

I'd also have to agree with 1066vik about getting the clip and with DOC-CANADA wishing the BK14 had the Izula II handle. I like the BK11/BK14 blade, but the Izula II is far better in my hand.
