Howdy. Lets get started with the numbers.
OAL 3 1/16"
THICKNESS 1/4" in the center 1/8" on the ends
WIDTH 7/8" at the bottom 5/8" at the top
I was wrong about the bolts being the same size as the BKT Shorts, these are smaller.
7/64" Allen Head
OAL 1/2"
THREAD 24 NPT
NUT OD 5/16"
I think thats it for the specs.
Now, the pics, and commentary.
First off, these handles are a game changer for the BK14. It goes from a neck knife, to solid, hard use performer in about 60secs. Fuller grip, and no hot spots or rough areas to cause friction. At the SHOT show, I handed everyone a base mode (skeletal) BK14, then one with handles. Most said, instantly, that it makes a huge difference in how the knife feels, and handles.
They are 3D contoured, with a swell in the middle, with a taper to the front and back, so, it basically fits in the palm of the hand perfect. Or at least for me it does, if you have huge mitts like 1066Vik or dainty little hands like The Warrior, it might not fit AS good as someone like me, with medium/large hands.
On to the pics......
What your money gets ya, as it comes.
Inside the outer bag, is 2 more bags, which I like, because it keeps your stuff together, and stuff don't go flyin' and rollin' around. I went and got a BK14 off the shelf, for demonstration purposes. Nothing more, just demonstration.
4 handles, 4 bolts, 4 nuts. Enough to do it twice, and mix and match if you want.
They are cut to fit the BK14 ESKabar, not the Izula. I'm betting they will work, but they might shift some. The BK14 is a little more robust in the webbing.
The thickness and palm swell, doesn't add too much to the overall thickness, so this can still be a neck knife, or a low profile tuckable.
I chose the Blaze Orange handles, to show off the contrast, but with the new coating (yes, the BK14 gets new digs), BO will set it off, and look great. That's what mine will be wearing.
The overall thickness and palmswell are pretty small, compared to the BKT Large. Duh.
And still smaller yet, than the new BKT Shorts.
Standard BKT black on black baby. Ethan and Henry Ford would have hung out and partied together I think.
Compared to my custom Moosehead Aluminum scales. HONOR THE MODS!!!!
And in closing, for the price of $16.79 MSRP, you are getting a helluva deal. Basically making your neck knife, a small, hard use bushcrafter, that can take one beating after another.
How tough is Zytel? Well, it was made to replace metal in most modern vehicles. But don't put 'em in the fire.
