BK14 Zytel Handles

Thanks for the quick response mate, as for why............... the handle of the II just isn't doing it for me and i wondered about swapping them out for these with modifications.

I just thought a BeckerHead may of done it already ?.

No problem. The Izula II fits my hand so well I was really just curious as to your reason. I know some hunters don't care for micarta like that b/c it can get kinda nasty with the blood and guts etc...

The zytel might fit the regular Izula with a little bit of modification though.

Howdy. Lets get started with the numbers.

First off, these handles are a game changer for the BK14. It goes from a neck knife, to solid, hard use performer in about 60secs. Fuller grip, and no hot spots or rough areas to cause friction. Moose

I know I am late to the party with this thread but a couple of quick questions for you. Does the knife still fit in the sheath? Is it still comfortable as a neck knife? Thanks.

Yes and yes.

For the small additional weight, it really changes nothing in the way of it being a neck knife. That said, I can't stand anything dangling from my neck, but I did try it out after I got the zytel on, and I could say, no noticable difference.

Should have mine today. Thought for sure they'd be here yesterday, but no such luck. Can't wait to try them out. Got the 14 nce and sharp...something I couldn't do with the last one for some weird reason...Hopefully my Godspeed sheath will show up too.

I researched the 1095 CroVan steel, and that's the reason I got some Backers, first of all I always liked the C.S. CarbonV steel, I have several of them, and they are great knives, tough, and hold a great edge, so I compared the two steels ( on the web ), and found out the 1095 CroVan and the CarbonV are almost the same if not the same, when I got the scales for my BK-14, they came with two, orange and black, so I got another 14, because of the steel. take care guy's.

By the way, 1095 CroVan and the 1095 are not the same steel !!!.

One more thing 0170-6C and 1095 CroVan are the same, when Camillus stopped making the steel, C.S. stopped making CarbonV, hmmmmmmmm.

I know this is an old thread, but I found it useful and just wanted to say thanks to Moosez45. I didn't know what the hex size of the bolts were, because it doesn't tell you, on or in the package. I already had a metric 10 piece hex key set by Mastercraft, but none of the sizes fit the head; but I found out by reading this thread, that I needed an SAE set instead. Now I have black handle scales on my BK14, cheers!.
