Hey Beckerheads,

Well I didn't get a buck this year but I did get a doe yesterday. I didn't get to hunt but a day and a half this season due to work responsibilities but I enjoyed every minute in the woods. This medium sized doe was only a 75 yard shot and quartering towards. I shot her through the heart and lungs. She died very fast, dropped instantly.

My BK16 got to touch some deer and it was a delight to use. The grind, size, jimping, ergos, etc all led to it being a great knife for the job. No stomach or fit sack knicking. It was nimble in the flesh. I apologize for not having more photos but my buddy's phone was dying. And obviously I could only take the before and after since I had bloody rubber gloves on between.

Anyhow the knife rocks!

Congratulations on a safe and successful hunt! The 16 is a dang fine knife, for sure :)

Thanks you James! Yes a safe hunt is definitely key. I have a great group to go with and we are all safety oriented. I've known people that I'd never hunt with.

Congrats!

A safe hunt is key. I don't mind being the safety Nazi in any group.

Glad to see the 16 getting some love too!

Glad you had a safe and successful hunt. I know guys like to get the trophy bucks, but a doe puts meat in the freezer to.
I've seen a pic of that knife before, how did you do the jimping on the scales??

Congrats on your doe.
I got skunked this year, oh well...
I would have gladly shot a doe this year.

Dresnor,
Thank you!

B&B,
Thank you. I really only care about meat in the freezer so a doe gets me pumped lol. I stippled the scales with a soldering iron and a fine tip.

Zakjak,
Dang that stinks. You'll get one next year.

Hahaha. You can see the tracks and how they go behind the tree. She stood behind it quartering toward me. You can see the blood how it shot out (the splots towards the deer), then she fell only a couple yards away and didn't get back up.

Here's how I was carrying my knife btw. I was using an azwelke sheath, cross-draw:

Here's my knife all cleaned up and perdy with my sheath:

I have a second azwelke sheath for my battle belt set up. I recommend them. They are good sheaths.

Congrats on harvesting a deer. I still need to get a ffg 16, to compare to the saber. Looks like it did the job well.

Thank you mrn8. I prefer the ffg over the saber grind. I've owned saber grinds and find the ffg to be much slicier.

Nice....... I am always happy to get a smallish doe...... Best eating..... Yum !......... Glad your Sixteen done good...... You certainly did.......
