Because you can't have too many Beckers.

I know I keep posting the same pic, but it is my favorite. A reminder of an awesome day in the woods with my son. We had a great hike, tracked a possum through a creek bed and worked on some skills. He now wants the BK7 everytime we go out, maybe the 17 will be more his size. He did request the & in the pic when I'm dead, tho. lol

My story is pretty simple.
I was on a camping trip with a few of my friends and one of them pulled out a BK11!
I loved it from the very beginning, I quickly bought a BK14 afterwards and now
I am now waiting for the money for a BK16, Machax, and BK2!

Thanks for the contest Moose,

A strange thing showed up in the mail a few months ago. A hefty box that was addressed to me... what was in this box? A well loved BK7 that had obviously been touched by some talented individuals. Then I remember a post about something called FRANKENBECKER and some drunken typing I had done "I'm IN!!"... I wasn't sure what I could do to this awesome piece of steel to make it better. I had never held a BK7 in my hands before and I knew I had to have one. I debated a few days and decided I would grind down the ramp and clean up the spine a bit. It wasn't much, but all I wanted to do. I had to package up that beautiful beast and send it down the road. I haven't filled that void with a BK7 of my own yet, but soon...

Well here's my pic but I haven't really any good stories as of yet so I'll tell of a semi funny and slightly painful occurrence instead. When I was getting prepped for my mustard patina on my Bk9 I grabbed the only mustard we had and since no one here really eats it it was quite old and dried. So like an idiot, instead of scrapping the tip or puncturing a hole I just squeezed. I since of course I had to visibly make sure it was going to come out I had it pointed at my face. Obviously we all no what happended-I caught an eye and nostril full of semi spicy mustard which did not smell or feel particularly pleasant:rolleyes: Luckily the patina came out awesome and the eye stopped burning after a bit of flushing w/ cold water.

And on another note: I dropped my bk9 a fe minutes after stepping outside and it hit the cement tip first and I lost about 1/4" of the tip. I guess that might happen in 20 degree weather but I thought I'd have had to been out long enough for the blade to get really cold. Either way I was able to stick it into that light pole in one stab so no complaints, plus its only really a chopping tool for me so its abilities aren't really affected in my book-but of course I'll be getting a new one as soon as I can afford it.:D The bk2/11 were just thrown into the pole with some ease too but I didn't want to risk the big guy not sticking w/ the bum tip and coming back at me-safety first...right??;)
Well I hope you like the pic and the tale and I'm thankful for the chance to win this knife. Though I know they said they weren't gonna come with the micarta like shown in the article about then but they also had them in satin finishes which I thought was awesome but I now see they are the standard black coating. No worries I'll just strip anyway.

I always loved blades, but didn't really get "into" them until I began watching Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel (don't hate). I was fascinated the idea of being self-reliant and learning how to survive in difficult situations (no matter how realistic the depictions in the aforementioned show may be). I went to my local Army Surplus store, and asked the guy behind the counter for a tough folding knife. What did he hand me? An all-black, serrated Ka-Bar Mule. I knew very little about knives, but I knew that this thing was a beast, and that it was the most comfortable folding knife I had ever held (and also one of the largest folding knives I have ever held). I bought it, and so began my addiction, and my quest for the perfect knife.

From that first Mule, I continued from folders to fixed blades, and my search for the toughest high-value knife led me eventually to the Becker BK2 Campanion. The first time I held the thing, I knew I was holding a knife that would not fail me under any circumstances. As I began to look into the Becker lineup more (and the man behind it), I found myself here at Blade Forums, with you beautiful people (and many who have since come along). Over these past few years, I have learned so much about the world of knives... and fed my addiction. Not only that, but I gained a few new skills in the woods while I was at it. Thanks for sharing what you know.

I will leave out all the details of how I got my Grandfathers knife, since its posted in another thread.
Lets just say, I had it and lost it, and in the search to replace it I searched for hammer pommel knives and prybar knives( it was a Case XX 337-6" Q the q is for quartermaster )
Becker knives came up and I found the forums while searching Becker knives online.
Fell in with the people and after much chatting bought the elegant and brutal BK-5 instead of the 2 which would have been closer to grandpas knife.
Now I have the shakes and jitters, and found myself buying a BK-9 blank and desperately needing the tweeners, and a machax.

Thanks for the chance Moose.

I'm sure most of you remember this. I made a few threads a while back showing me abusing my old BK2. Everyone knows the BK2 is a tank, I just wanted to see first hand what it could take, and it did not disappoint!

Ok. We're done.

I got a winner.

Announced later tonight.

Few photos can sum up what the essence of BKT knives are about, especially a BK2.

Yours pretty much takes care of that. :D

Well done to everyone, this has been one of the best threads I've had the pleasure of viewing, and I thank you.

BRab, I need to know where to send your BK17 Short Clip Point Becker. Its ready to come home.

Moose

Grats BRab. Thought you would be the winner. ;) Thanks for the contest moose, appreciated.

And rightfully so! Many people started into Becker's because of him! Me included. Congrats
