Bk17

Thank you everyone for your kind words, DM is one in 7 billion, that's for sure. I've wanted the 17 for MONTHS and this will be my new climbing/ hiking/ camping knife. I have finished stripping....the BLADE lol.

Stripped.

Left the 17 in two apples over night to create the patina....I got hungry...

Good job amy,i really like that apple trick...will look into that cause grapefruit can make a mess very quickly.

Thanks! I thought about using a grapefruit simply because it's bigger and I would have only had to use one, but apples taste better lol. I used hot sauce to create a forced patina on my Opinel, that worked pretty well too.

Gorgeous strip job and patina. I have tried to leave the coating on all my Beckers but always strip them. Gotta love a sweet naked blade

onion and potato make for a great patina -- so does slicing up a leg of lamb frash out of the smoker, but I understand that's not a likely happening. :)

congrats!

Thorny - you going to be at Blade?

I really wish my wife was as motivated as you about the knives I buy for her. She just scoffs and says, "you got me another one?"

Its very disheartening when your significant other refuses to show the same amount of enthusiasm as you do about something.

Congrats to both of you...I tried to ease my spouse into knives by getting her a gorgeous purple leek folder.

Her response?

First...what would I do with a switchblade?
Second...it's kinda scary?
Third...it is pretty though.

My response.....inside my own head of course....my best Homer Simpson "Doh!!" At least there is hope in her third answer.

Lol my wife also doesn't get it. I did sneak a buck folder into her purse :)

Gift of a 17? Beautiful.
Praising the BF in a public forum? Priceless.
Mutual admiration society - bodes well for the both of you. Congratulations on your new knife, SKA. Better than diamonds, and a sh*tload more useful.
