Bk2 edge

I got my BK2 slightly used from a BF member and it wasn't very sharp . After several attempts I almost gave up but then I developed my stifa method to apply a Fisk sharpening :

1. Play a favorite CD or a radio station
2. Time the grit size use and pressure applied (lots of pressure to no pressure at all) according to songs length and duration . The finer the grit / lighter pressure then more songs / longer songs needed .
3. Strop for 1 song approximately . YRMV

Got it shaving sharp

Never had a problem with the river.
All knives ordered arrived the way they should.
I'd like to see some pics.

I got mine from SMKW. I'm wasn't worried about it though. Just gave me an excuse to learn convexing and my free hand sharpening skills are better for it.

January first I bought a bk9 on the river and one of my grinds was around 3x the size of the opposite side. I've been using it mostly for chopping and wood splitting so it hasn't bothered me. I am glad to hear that this is an isolated incident though as this was my first Becker.

All mine have been great right out of the box. The only problem I have had with any Ka-bar so far is my phat bob but they said they will fix it for me. As soon as I actually drop it in the mail. I must say it was amazing customer service. I emailed them and they had emailed me back in what must have been 15 saying not to worry and send it in.

Mine was worse than I though guys, I've been probably 10 hrs total on this blade and not shaving yet tried today after work I'm close but damn, if I could Post the pics from my phone you could see the difference. Of the amount of metal I took off don't get me wrong I'm loving the knife but I need mine to skin game.If anyone an help let me know. Thanks

The guy at my knife shop said that when knife companies have batches that either the heat treat was a little off of the grind is so off that they'd have to make make the profile different from the original pattern to fix it they get sold sometimes in large amounts to guys or companies who will then filter them through Amazon or other similar websites where they get sold as if they are fresh perfect knives from the factory.

That said, I think he may be exaggerating that theory and I would doubt Ka-Bar is the type of company who would let inferior products leak into the market and taint their reputation. There are a few other companies I wouldn't doubt would to do that, but not Ka-Bar. So who knows, sometimes when they make so much of something a few are just not gonna be perfect. My BK2 and BK14 arrived with even nice grinds and were not razor sharp, but had decent factory edges.
