BK2 Issue.

Appreciate all your replies.
Well according to Ka-Bar, such variations in blade shape are acceptable and “not considered a warranty issue” and “should not affect performance”. I don’t think this is cool. I thought I ordered a BK2. If what they are saying is, regardless of blade shape, it should still cut, then I may as well have purchased any other knife. I think this blade shape is significantly different. To add to that it was delivered very blunt, as in I don't think I could cut myself if i tried, but thats another story and I can sharpen it myself. Just makes you feel a little cheated.
They did offer to exchange it for me if I ship it all they way back to America. I live in Australia and shipping is very expensive. I have already paid for shipping once when I purchased. If they could just get it right the first time and send me what I ordered, I would not have to pay for shipping again just to end up with what I ordered the first time.
Anyway, I’m annoyed right now…and might be overreacting. Still a Becker fan though…

How much is the shipping?

even better:

how much to ship the blade, no handles, no screws/nuts, box, anything... taped flat to a piece of wood (for safety)? cheapest, slowest, safe rate?

"knife part": value say... $25?

there are several people here who indicated they'd buy it back. i'm sure you could be sent a like "blank" back?

good solution?

on a personal level? that's not quite acceptable to me, but that's me. i don't speak for the powers that be on these issues.

but given that people want this? and will probably mod it further? good trades be a happening...

If I were you (and I am not) I would call the vendor from whom you bought it and ask for an exchange. If that does not work out I would send it back to kabar. No sense in having a knife that will bother you every time you pick it up. Putting your own marks on it (aka giving it some love) is one thing. Feeling like you bought something defective is something else. If you are a forum member then you are particular in what you use. Just my $.02 ...

I think his issue is that he leaves outside the US and does not want to have to deal with the high cost of shipping. Someone in the thread has already said he would take it off his hands. That's what I would do then he can get one he's happy with. I think it looks pretty cool myself.

wow

I have to agree with mooks the blade shape is significantly different. after reading this thread i can honestly say i am very disappointed in Ka-Bar.

Why would you be disappointed in Kabar? They offered to replace it, even though it's not really a warrantable issue. All the OP has to do is send it back. He wants a non warrantable issue replaced, then he needs to send it in, simple as that.

I can't believe this nit is being picked. The bevel grinds are done by hand. If you want every single blade identically the same, it will take computer aided grinding which would cost kabar money to have, use, maintain and therefore raise the price point of the end product. You wanna complain about this....how about complaining that it costs a $100 bill more than it does now.

I have to agree with Karda on this one. It's a production knife. There are tolerances that are allowable and this one according to Becker is within specs. Even with that, they have offered a replacement. I don't think a company can do more than that. Maybe take Clich up on his offer. He said he would take the knife. Just my 2 cents.

If you decide to do something with it let me know. Since you out of the states we will have to discuss some things especially since I know the prices on beckers is way higher is some other countries. Like way more than I would pay sometimes
