BK2 Leather Sheath?

both of these are Moose leather creations
 
For the guys that are making their own sheaths what leather works best for you? I have some spare leather strips and figured might as well make a nice leather sheath.

I use a 9-10oz shoulder. Good leather, tough, and workable. Right now, I'm stuck with some 13oz shoulder, and the stitch at the mouth is almost 3/4". Hard to stitch it, but I get it done. :D

That 13oz is some tough stuff! I'm still diggin' mine, Moose! Get compliments on it all the time!
 
I use 10-12oz Saddle skirting from Wicket & Craig. You have to buy a side at a time, but the price per square foot is pretty good. Most of the time I buy my sides Pre-dyed either brown or Chestnut which costs a little more but saves a ton of time!

If that's what you used on my FB Machete sheath Heber, then it's good stuff for sure! I also get lottsa compliments on that one too!! :D

Yep, thats what I used on your sheath. I'm glad you are getting to use your sheath and liking it. :) Thick leather is good for a big knife. :) Made a custom sheath for my BK9 a few months ago and used the same leather but in Chestnut. It's dang good stuff!

Yeah, its in the works too. Maybe first of next week, I'll have it ready.

This will be my last sheath in the 13oz, and thank gawd for that.

I'll see what the cow man brings next.
