BK2 Saves a party!!!

I dont have a 9, but I do have a 7. I love the 7, but there are things I wouldnt try with it that my 2 just shrugs off.
I was batoning some hardwood stumps for my daughter's birthday party and found that the 7 had a little more give in the blade. Just enough to make me nervous.
I also noticed that the extra width of the 2 made splitting the wood faster and a little easier. I did manage to get my 7 stuck mid-way in the stump and had to send the 2 in to rescue it.
The 7 is nice, but I'm glad I had his short, fat brother along that day as well.

For narrower logs I prefer the BK2 because it's thicker. Of course for bigger logs the BK9 is better.

Machax.

That is all.

as most of the wood they found was too thick and wet

Thank you, Doogoon for the proper spelling of "too". In most forum postings that would have been a "to".
Gawd -- there is hope out there...

Am I really the only one who prefers the BK7 to both the 2 and the 9?

Nope. Ya got a believer here!

and said he would never throw again.Moose

What a perfect end to a fairy tale... :D

I have always loved the BK2, but lately, I have been revisiting the BK7. Its a bad ass survival knife as well. I most likely wouldn't "dig" or "throw" my knife.
I can use "sticks and stones" for that kind of stuff..:)
I do like a bigger knife in the woods. I am in the" camp" that a big knife makes camp life much easier. I know that a small knife can do just about anything, but you guys that want to try to do everything with a smaller knife must like things the hard way. I bet you programed your first VCR with out reading the directions...

I still can't see any point to the 2. Seems it has all the disadvantages of a large knife and none of the advantages of a small knife.

Since, we're choosing what we can carry in a "survival situation", I'll take a satellite phone, a GPS, a hand saw, my BK16, a bic, a pot, and a camelbak full of water. Better yet, I'll choose not to be in a survival situation at all. Maybe I'll just go camping. In reality, I'll be lucky to have a small fixed blade and my SAK because that's what I carry on my person everyday. Some of you guys crack me up. :)

To the OP, I'm glad that you came through with the 2. Wouldn't have been much of a bonfire otherwise.

haha thanks wooly and k9-handler! Hell it wouldn't have been a party at all if it wasn't for the BK2! It was too cold and they were about to call the party off!
