BK2 test, the final part (LOTS of pictures)

Great series of threads...I think I am going to buy another BK2 just because!

It almost hurts me to see a Becker go through so much. Though, I always remember "the bk2 doesn't want to be fed, bk2 wants to hunt."

While, I am an advocate of thoroughly testing your gear before you bet your life on it. I do not go to this extreme. Not normally a fan of this kind of knife testing as it is unlikely that we will need to baton through a concrete wall or hack a lawn mower or refrigerator to pieces. Though I did once baton through a battery cable on my truck once with my BK2. I'd much rather see a fire pit, water or root being dug up, a shelter and some traps made. The knife sharpened with a flat rock and used to clean, skin and break down whatever game or fish are trapped hunted or caught.
That said this test did establish that a BK2 is indestructible and lives up to its Becker Train Wrecker nickname and that you will not be disappointed even if you do use it as a demolition tool. Suppose it proves if the garage caved in on you while you were still in the car that you could cut your way out of the car and through the building with a BK2. What I would have liked to see is the blade sharpened on the concrete it hacked through and some flat stones than used for some more typical survival tasks mentioned above. Now that would have been a truly awesome practical display of the BK2 survival usefulness under the most extreme circumstances. Still thanks for your efforts as they do inspire increased confidence in my go to survival blade

BRab,

As a survivalist, it's absolutely awesome to see tests like this done on knives. I've been fairly abusive to my wife's BK2 but you definitely take the cake. It's good to know that I have one of these in the house and even though I didn't see your test before gifting it to her, I did enough research to know it would be a beast.

Good stuff, man. When can we expect to see one on the BK5? It's obviously not a tank like the BK2 but I'm curious to know what kind of abuse it could handle. Have you done any similar tests on the other 3/16" thick Beckers?

You should drop it in a nuclear reactor I'm sure it wouldn't look much worse !

I live about 30min. from the Palo Verde nuclear power plant in AZ, but I don't work there. But if I ever get to arrange something, I'll post the results.

Holy cow. Awesome! Testing looks great man. I'm pumped about how the Becker did. I HAVE to have a BK2 now. Along with all the other Beckers I have yet to get.....

Question: How did the factory scales hold up? We sometimes hear they "loosen up" or are "too slippery". I've always liked the factory grivory scales so am wondering if those are the originals?

I've had my BK2 for about a year and a half now and LOVE it - it's without question my "go to" all-purpose blade. This thread and your torture-tests demonstrates without any possible doubt that the BK2 is as close to indestructible as you can get. All I can say is WOW! :)

Thanks for sharing this and the pics are worth a million words.

PS: It should now hold a place of honor in the Smithsonian!

This topic is main reason why I bought BK2. And now I'm very happy for that, the knife really is a must have. I don't know how I lived so long without it :)
