Here's a pic of the sheath soaking in a bottle of black Rit dye and a cup of vinegar. I boiled the dye mixture and put it in this foil lined pan because the sheath ended up being too big for the pot that I used to heat the dye. I had to keep turning the sheath over every 20 min or so because I didn't use enough dye.

Curiosity question - why did you mix vinegar with the RIT dye?? I'm used to using water with RIT.

The directions recommended vinegar when dying nylon.
