Riley the BK-2's aren't as ungainly as they may appear.
Buy one and if you just can't warm up to it i'm sure you will have no problem selling it in the for sale forum!
I have 2 Camillus BK-2's i bought as blade blanks after Camillus went belly up.
Mine are 3/16ths not a 1/4 thick, so are the new Kabars really 1/4inch thick?
Anyway heres a pic of mine, the grip shapes were modded, the wood is cocobolo and amboyna burl.
This pic is a little old as i have refinished them and added brass tubing to the lanyard holes.
If i can't find micarts scales for my BK-11 i may add wood scales to it as well!
