For you folks that have a BK 3, is the rope cutter notch sharpened inside at all. I just have an old one used by Marines and nothing about it anywhere is sharp, so I don't know.

It's sharp, but not sharp enough to cut a seat belt, and maybe not sharp enough to cut cord. I think when I got mine I tried it on some 550 and it just didn't do the job there, but then like I said before, some say it isn't for cutting at all so much as for breaking wire. Not sure how that would work, maybe like continually trying to yank it through the wire piece or something.
 
I read somewhere that was selling the BK3 that it was a rope cutter, but perhaps they were wrong. If it is a rope cutter, and not sharp enough to cut rope, it seems kinda pointless. Moose did say they found other uses for it, but didn't elaborate.

Edit: Just noticed this is my 100th post. Such an earth shattering event. :jerkit:

I got my BK3 yesterday, it's a giant chunk of steel with what appears to be an edge. Seriously, this thing could be completely blunt and still do damage.

I don't know why they would put holes near the end of something that is meant for HD use, but it is 3/8" thick. That "dot-dash-dot" thing comes up a lot on thier stuff. I don't know the significance of it though ?
