I think you'll be fine in the steel dept brother :D Just make sure to carry at least one on ya in case of pack separation!
I would have Al whip me up a neck sheath for that 4...but thats just me:rolleyes:

Thats the way they should be carried!! Something tells me you never go out without enough steel.

Wow! That sheath is $&*#ing badass!!! Almost makes me want to buy a Machax!

Has he made any tweener sheaths yet?

I've got a 17 sheath on the way from Al. I don't know if he's got the FFG 16 yet, though he does have the sabered 16 sheath for sale.

clitch, what kind of container did you use to bleach the machax? I have been racking my brain trying to think of something that would not take 20 dollars in bleach...

Clich, couple questions for you,

I had though when you bleach it should be vertical? I figured flat would leave a weird pattern on the bottom side.

On the sheath is it an up and out pull or to the front and then up? that probably doesn't make any sense but I can't figure out how to type what I am thinking. I want one of Al's sheaths for the truck. Oh and a new machax to put in it, I fubared mine lol.

I have a 5.11rush 12 on the way. It's supposed to be here tomorrow. I'm looking forward to setting it up and the knives sure do look spiffy on there! Thanks for the look, you mEan I can have twO knives on it? Yeah buddy!! 4and2maybe, 9 and 14?

That's a dandy woods setup, Clich. I did pretty much the same thing with my Rush 24 last week. A blade on each side a great way to carry a backup bushcrafter and chopper. I eventually had to take the Machax off my pack, since I was getting odd looks at work, but the BK-16 is still threaded on.

This image is cool because of all the BFC members supported in it. I see Tommy's scales, Azwelke's sheath, A bullet bead that I have seen someone on here selling, and I think I know who that springy lanyard came from(?)

and of course the Molle locks...I wonder where u learned that from? LMAO

I'm thinking of the same duo. I really like the way that 4 kydex looks in od. 16's on the way and 4's hopefully in the near future. Nice setup

as far as the etch goes, laying it flat you get wider more circular etches, reminds me of a forge finish. the bk2 pic below was laid on its side. And your right the bottom gets ALOT more etched than the top since the reaction wants to rise, but what i do to counteract that is lay it on its side (completely submerged since half out half in will leave an etch line on the spine) for the first 10-12 minutes, then flip over, agitate the bleach by giving it a little swirl and leaving it other side down for the remainder of the time (about 30-35 more minutes)
the vertical dunk leaves more lines, reminds me of poormans damascus if done right, but ive started to take more of a liking to the forge type finish since it looks more like an antiquing than a design.

and here is a quick video about the machax draw and my thoughts on the impossible thumb strap

Totally sweet. I just bought a cheap pack with molle webbing on it pretty much to do just this. Only problem is I'm stuck on Al's BK4 retention strap... I want butterfly tabs or something else :(

the strap is not goo. Good idea, bad snap. Its impossible to get off with my finger. I did it the first couple times ok, it was still hard but doable, but now it wont come off at all. The retention is good enough without it, but maybe a shock cord wrap just in case and ill cut the damn strap off

Cool vid clich. I think the strap would have worked better if it were a bit longer, past the snap, to have something more to hold onto.

interesting. Is the strap difficult to open because u cant get ahold of it or is the snap buckle just overly tight? I would think leaving the strap a lil ''tab'' to grab hold of would work better, an inch or so longer then it is (past the snap part)
