BK5: An all round woods blade, or not?

I was honestly not fond of the BK5 until the gathering forced us to put one through it's paces. It is a great knife, light, but not so light you couldn't do what you needed to do with it. Pointy used his to chop on the 2x4, and if I remember correctly, he made it through it in the allotted 60 seconds. The thing is that just holding it, you don't get the same feel of strength and heft that you do with the others, so it does surprise you with how well it performs. If you are dead set on getting a 7, go for that, but if it is a toss up, the 5 will not disappoint.

Since i got the passaround bk5 right now AND a brand new bk7, i will be answering your question with a video review. Which becker, the bk5 or 7, is the REAL camp utility....look for it later this week...

WEll ... I just ordered a BK5 from amazon Friday the haven't shipped it yet so I got like 30 minutes or so to change my mind.

ok, gotta admit, being new to Beckers(got a BK2-AWSOME) i had the same questions as these guys(thanks for a great post), you guys cleared alot up for me too....next up, second becker will be ordered a nice BK5...then a BK7..then a BK9..then..

I think it's just the heft of it that throws me off of the 5, I liked it for an all around camp knife but the woman stole it for her all around camp knife. Since one Becker just leads to another I guess it doesn't matter which one comes first
