Guys,
I hate making this post, because the Fisk Designed BK&T MAGNUM CAMP KNIFE is one of my favorite all time knives! Unfortunately, not enough others out there felt the same way. We have just ran out of blade blanks, and after reviewing sales, we have decided that we have to drop this model.

IF you have been thinking about getting one of these GREAT KNIVES, DO IT NOW! There are still BK5's on dealers shelves. Get them before they are all gone.

The Fisk Designed MAGNUM CAMP is a very deciving knife....it looks very plain vanilla on the printed page[or monitor], but once you hold one in your hand, you realize that it is a true working knife. Jerry Fisk knows more about what makes a knife cut than anyone else I have worked with....and it certainly shows in this knife. From Food prep, to building shelters, to butchering game, this knife does it all[hell, I even had Robert Humelbaugh@Survival Sheath Systems build me a IWB carry sheath for self defense carry!].

For a knife that doesn't jump off the page with alot of visual features, this knife performs like no other, get one while you can!

Will Mr. Fisk still sell his reprofile version? I don't see how I'll be able to come up with the cash before they're gone.

Geez Will!

Looks like I ordered one at the appropriate time - should be getting it from Bayou Lafourche next week.

Any plans to replace this type of knife? I purchased this one after handling the BK-9, because I wanted something more balanced and fast in the hand. Didn't really feel like purchasing an OVB bowie and beating the snot out of it.

:(

Calyth,
I would get in touch with Jerry Fisk ASAP....I'm not sure if he has anymore in stock or not.

Geode,
Try the BK7....its much more neutral in the hand.....

or just get another BK5 while you can;)

Will, Is there any chance that the Magnum didn't do as well as the B/K7
combat utility because of the price point it was at??

These two knives were very close in design intent while the Magnum cost
a full 1/3 more for just a bit more blade. To the Joe Average's of the world
a $50 knife will get more attention than an $80 knife if all is equal for the
average uses. I know it made my mind up for me even tho I liked the Magnum
more I bought the B/K 7. I think this is a case of a excellent design dying due
to a marketing mistake.

Well this flat out SUCKS!:(

The Magnum Camp is my favorite Becker.

All I can say is, glad I got mine!:)

Will, maybe this can get a second chance somewhere down the line?
It pains me to see such a great all around knife go the way of the dinos.

A good friend of mine and well-known knife expert hated the Magnum Camp design for several years until he used actually used one in camp. Now it is his favorite of all the BKT models.

The Magnum Camp knife is so different from the BK-7. It is night and day. For starters it is almost a 9" knife versus 7", upswept camp versus attenuated Bowie clip....

No comparison. Fitted kydex vs.nylon sheath-major cost difference there too. The Magnum camp is worth every penny of the $109 retail. Blackjack sold an inferior knife for $139 and no one complained about the price then, why complain now, 5 years later?

The Magnum Camp knife is the most unassuming of all BKT knives. It lacks widgets, gadgets and doodads that many other designs rely on to get moved off the shelf.

Few people will buy one unless they handle it and feel the superb balance and distal taper for themselves. It has more speed built into it than any other BKT knife, that is for sure. It does most camp chores very well, it is the true "Jack of All Trades" in the Becker line-up.

In the current knife market, if it was called something like the "Screaming Weasel Attack" or "Combat Elephant Asspicker" it would have probably sold real well!

It will be missed.

What a shame !
This was my favorite Becker.
I'm glad that I have one in my collection.
Can anyone tell me how many were produced ?
Jocko

I'm glad I have two!!! I personally always liked the
look of it...but so true...pick it up and fondle it
and man does it feel good!! I have a medium size hand
and I think this knife feels so good in my hand!!

Thanks for the heads up, Will. I'm sorry to see it go under, I've been budgeting up to get one from Will for some time now, but went ahead and pulled the trigger a little earlier than I'd planned.

Also thanks for the heads-up Will!!! Was planning to wait a while longer but called up Jerry today and EUREKA!! he had a very small number left. Ordered one of his convex edged versions - will be getting it Friday - can't wait!:D :D :D He has at most 3 left as of this afternoon - probably will not last long!

Bill

Well, I've just ordered one now. I went and had a trawl through the reviews and comments made by everyone. Seemed like too good a knife to pass up on. Wish I'd done the same with the Warner/Moran Bowie when I'd had the chance.

Guys,

Got mine yesterday - awesome. I don't even know what I am going to do with it, and I still like it! I will, however, put a convex edge on it sometime.

Now - off to find something to cut.

Combat Elephant Asspicker! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

I spit coffee all over the place when I read this! :D

Too bad about the Magnum Camp. It looks like a nice knife. I don't have one, but did have in mind maybe getting one.

One suggestion: The Magnum Camp might have sold better with a lower price. The price could have been lowered by using a nylon sheath for the Magnum, like the sheath that comes with the CU/7 and CU/9, as opposed to the kydex sheath that the Magnum Camp comes with.
