BK5, MAGNUM CAMP KNIFE, discontinued!

Well I ordered one as soon as I saw this string... I'd been looking at them for some time, and decided that all things considered there was no time like the present. Any rate, it came in yesterday and boy am I happy. I've even got a giant bald spot to show how sharp it is :D

Gutshot

Anthony mentioned that Blackjack sold an inferior version awile
back. Is he implying that when the BK&T line first came out under
Blackjack that they were inferior to the ones now being put out by
Camillus? If so, why? What makes the "new" ones better than the
"old" ones?

There were many reasons the new BKT knives are far superior to the Blackjack made models.

1)Superior scale material-GV6H is much, much stronger than the old "esta-loc" scales that Blackjack used.

2)Superior steel selection/heat treat. Blackjack made BKT's out of 440-a, 440-c, and 1095. 0-170-6 is a superior performer in a big cutting tool.

3)Better fit/finish-the BKT product now is much better finished than the "old" BKT. Grind lines are straight and visible. Handle scales fit better, edge sharpness and thickness is more consistent.

4)Better sheaths. MUCH better sheaths. the old BJK sheaths stink (That is being kind) the new kydex or propex sheaths are very, very good.

Better prices too. Camillus kept the prices the same on many models and has copme out with several CHEAPER models (BK-7, BK-9).

Better all the way around!~
