To each his own. Hard for me to imagine getting enough BLO yuck on food to harm me from handling a knife that was treated with it weeks ago, rubbed down with steel wool, a soft cloth and then waxed. But i guess it's possible.

If you guys are worried about the oil you use to protect your wooden handles is food safe or not, you are cutting stuff with the wrong end, LOL.

It’s a non-issue.
