Are you sure you weren't batoning the rocks in the background?:D

Make sure that Toooj sees that, because — you're right — it shouldn't do that with wood.

I'm with DB. Thought you were battoning rocks!
You said "fixed it up now it's good as new". Post an after pic.
Curious how it turned out.

that's an impact fracture to my eyes. hitting wood wouldn't do that, but if there was a nail, or stone embedded in there, yup.

why i say an impact fracture? due to the semi-circular chip pattern, not unlike chipping good flint, impact, and shockwave in a hard material, et voila...

happens. glad you fixed it. keep it up :>

That was my initial thinking when seeing it over in the ESEE forum. Looks exactly like a small chip I got in a blade a year or so ago when I rammed into a rock.

Tuffthumbz,

Please send the knife in to me:

Attn: Paul Tsujimoto

Please include a letter of explanation with a return address. I'll inspect it and let you know.

Chip could be from: hitting a rock, knot in wood, defective steel, bad karma, not sacrificing a virgin to the woods god....

No whining, no moaning, no hemming or hawing, just "Please send the knife in to me."

Toooj and KA-BAR seem to be quietly — or not so quietly — shooting for the best customer service in the business, and that's how you build customer loyalty, folks. When you take care of people, word gets around.

Spread the word.

All,

Just to let you know, while I was on an extended IndieDay holiday and Ethan was building more roads on his property, Jeff Randall gave us a headsup e-mail when the pic was posted on the ESEE forum. I can't think of a better guy to guard my six. He and Mike have been good friends for many years. Kudos to Jeff (and the rest of the ESEE gang).

They are good folks. Now, if we could only convert them to The One True Way ...:D

We are well aware of the one true way - find a knife that holds a sharp edge, has a comfy grip, and is covered by phenomenal customer service.
My OTW comes with micarta scales from the factory.
Your OTW comes with grivory scales from the factory & offers micarta as an aftermarket option.
Doesn't matter if it's backed by Ethan and Toooj or Jeff & Mike, it's all good!

now go have some more kool-aid! :D

You're right, Eric, either way, it's all good!
