I love how everyone has to guess the cordage I am talking about.

And it is flat, not round. About 1mm x 2mm or so.

does anyone carry something too shapen the knife with ? seems most dont i carry a credit card sized one in the tin with a firesteel small sak folded 1 lt bag some purification tabs a few band aids and a small whistle. oh and a little compass so i can tell where i'm not at lol!

Firesteel is a good idea but I usually just carry it as a backup to a few lighters, mini-bics are pretty small. I suppose for a small knife kit I'd go with a small firesteel because it can take a dunk no problem. I prefer a qood quality multi-tool to a SAK but that's me.

That stuff looks like the stuff I like to use. It is called Uncle Mac's Sportsmen's Utility Cord. Worksgreat for smaller tasks and traps. Holds a knot better than 550 cord too.

Diamond or ceramic rod, compass (True-Nord), couple individually wrapped Water purifying tablets, small ferro rod, couple of safety pins, few hurricane matches, small signal whistle, sail maker's needle and strong thread, small twist of wire, condom, Princeton tech Pulsar LED.

I think all that could fit in the pouch in a small zip lock or ALOK sack. But you asked for just three items. My top three items would be 1. Princeton Tech Pulsar 2. True Nord compass. 3. Hurricane matches & striker. 4. Diamond rod sharpener.

....Crap that was 4 things.

OK, compass, diamond rod, and LED. Those three things are items you are likely to use and miss if you don't have 'em. And you said you always carry a Bic.

This is my BK7 kit with only basics. The BK7 including sheath is mostly worn with a small survival pouch and first aid kit.

The picture shows itself. The kydex sheath with a small pouch that contains: a whistle, compass, small Big lighter, bicycle inner tube, hexagonal wrench and LED light. All attached to a piece of rope so I'll not lose it when it is being pulled out of there. On the rear of the sheath there is some mirror like isolation tape for signaling. A very thin package that carries well on the hip at about 630 gram.

To complete it into a ‘standalone survival system’ I might add some fishing gear, wet sandpaper, needle and thread, water purification tablets, insulation blanket, small firs aid stuff and extra cordage.

The BK7 is modified to my preference. Grooved Camillus grivory, stainless hardware, visible lanyard and sharp ;) The SAK OHT and/or Ontario Rat1 will travel along outside the sheath.

I know this is awhile later, but that RAT-1 is sweet!!! Did you do those handles or someone else? and I am guessing G-10?

old thread, but ill play.

Tops Knives combo PPP01 Pry-Probe Punch Tool and saw with OD Green Cord Wrapped Grip and nylon sheath, id add in an allen wrench for the handles. use 10 feet or so of paracord wrap and be set. this would cover the things id actually use out of a multi tool or sak

i dont see the combo of the pry tool, saw, and screwdriver on the tops website but i seen it in my smokey mountain knife works magazine.

Tanks! I did it myself. I modified the stock desert tan scales with a dremel. The liners are skeletonised and edges of the liners polished. Makes a real sweet RAT. PM me for more info.

Sorry for the late response, I just read it ;)
