BK7 modified sheath

After recieving my 7, I felt (for me) that the sheath rode too low....so.....I folded over the belt loop and had it professionally sown along both sides at the lowest most points. Now, it allows for a standard 'jeans' belt or a wide web belt to be used in the respective loop. It fits as snug as a bug in a box along the waist/thigh and rides the perfect height for me. Now all I have to do is fill that pocket up..:D , oh, and use it!

The sheath sorta looks strider-ish (?)

Sorry for the quality on the next pic, I wobbled!

Good show ,mate. This is why I think that the B/K 7 is one of,
if not the most, versitile packages on the knife market. The owners
can adjust (customize) to suit their needs.

Your "adjustment" of the sheath shows why I've never been real fond
of the rigid Kydex. One size ( or shape) doesn't fit all. Now put Kydex
or plastic liner in a nylon "holder" it becomes another story as you've shown.

I like that.I may have to do that to mine as well. The sheath now is a bit floppy when it hangs so low.

thx for the comments guys!

it really is alot better. If you can not make out where it is sown, I can explain. There was a spot of glue holding the kydex inside the sheath (on the top) and the kydex is easily removed (has to be to be sown correctly). Just stick a small screwdriver down the inside and lift up gently. It makes a tearing sound. The motor trimmers just glued the thing back in there for me and then one of em said, "where can I get one of these? Can you get me one?"...

No problems mate!

Hey, what do you people put in the pocket? Currently, I have a fine indian stone in there as I am told that the 7's steel holds an edge forever and the fine stone is all that is needed to lick it back into shape. Any suggestions?

I love my model 7 enuf to have four of them; but the dayuummn sheath rode too low. Now I know how 2 fix just gotta find somebody to sew the puppy.

I wanna see this blade satin finish w stainless fastners; and im "about" as they say here in nc to buy one 2 do the job!!

Im gonna try a DMT double sided deal or somethin like that
for the pouch
thanx

A simple fix is to fold the flap over, and run a piece of 550 cord through the loop, and under the pocket flap. Stays in place, doesn't interfere with getting stuff in/out of the pocket, and converting the sheath back to a lower ride is as quick as untying a square knot.
Got my BK7 done like that, and have done the same thing with a couple of Busses with similar sheaths. Works great.

I'm all for that...never really been fond of black finish. I wouldn't mind solid handle scales too (even if it would make it heavier).

Just picked mine up last weekend and I'm dying to get out and use it.

your avatars on my ARM...can i borrow it if i change color or sumthin??:p

Metallica freakin rox--nuff said... :D..

back to subject..dont mind black finish..evidently every knife production company on the planet loves it; saves $ finishing the blade..u gotta leave a certian amount of texture there anyway..I just dont mind takin care of a nice piece though..And i didnt mean an all stainless blade either..just fastners..beckers carbon kiks butt!!

Owen ~ Damn man! I tied all sorts of configerations to try and 'do' what you have just explained! Good thinking! I will do that to my Busse sheath as I was NOT looking forward to sowing it when it arrives, (but agreed with myself to do so) - PHEW! Saved!

Zenghost ~ Yep, I am going to make some hard scales for her out of Linen Micarta / BLASTED, and machine up some male/female screws to hold them in place. If I get a chance, I will make a few extras and offer them as kits (free!) here on the forum. Finding time is proving difficult at present though. I will post some pics when I complete mine. If I do not have time to complete the whole package, I will certainly NC (computer lathe) a few screws up for the taking.

and yes ~
METALlICA ROX! :D

Dude, if you ever have time to do this then let me know...I'd definitely be interested.

In the end there can be only ONE..well maybe four..james,lars,kirk & well.... opinions vary...

Hey guyz when we finish with these bad bouz maybe we should refer to it as sort of a yin/yang ZIN thing.....??? The Original Becker and the Mutant: what a pair!!

Actually there's an easier way to do it...all you have to do is (in MS IE): put your mouse on the avatar and right-click. Then choose "Save Picture As..." in the menu and then you should have it. If you still can't get it, then let me know and I'll send it to you...

Really good idea!!! Thanks for sharing...I've also scrambled my brain trying to figure out a pragmatic way of adjusting that...

Appreciated!!

Oh yeah...back to the sheath. Is it just me, or do you think that the strap should snap the other way (for right handers anyway)? I find it easier to disengage while grasping the knife if I can just push the snap open with my thumb. This of course is just my opinion and in the usual right-handed egocentric style. Anyone else think so? Just kind of curious because this is really my only fixed blade right now.

talk about yin/yang?? check out the avitar dude--You are the MAN-- I still havent figured how to get the paracord behind the pouch to tie the bad boy off:

did u guyz means behind the elastic bandon the front and tie in back??

Dude...I'm jealous...I might have to tweak mine a little too now...you did a good job...

I think they meant just wrap the cord through the loop and just under the pocket flap--not the elastic. This would actually either limit the use of the pocket or render it useless. depending on how tight you wrap it.

when they/we "make";mutate--alter/altar(heh,heh,heh)this blade into a "white version" u and I just have to have one...buzz me at darkcrow66@aol.com..

Ive never been 2 maui..but this one thing I do know is this..The only thing better than 'Tallica on beach in Hawaii..Would be 'Tallica in New Orleans at Lafittes BlackSmith shop on Phillip & Bourbon--With CLIFF Resurrected!!..and Jason Growling and screamin at all the Universe...

That's it...through the loop, under the flap. Doesn't affect use of the pocket at all.

Hey ZENGHOST...

I too noticed the snap strap on the wrong side. Becker must be left handed!:D ;)

I am going to get the shop guys to change that config around too ~ 2 new snaps and a quick sow should see it right / good pickup!

Found the linen micarta in the shed today, the time is nearing friends ~ MWAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA...

I am simply loving the shear idea if seein this knife a different way..I keep sayin that & not that its BAD already...far from it..but we gotta just for the pure joy of mad-scientists everywhere!

HEY GUNDY: PUT ME DOWN FOR HANDLES/SKREWZ--WHATEVER TOO:p
