Bk7 or esee 6?

Depends on how much you plan to modify the knife, to leave it stock off the shelf I'd go with the Esee but you de-ramp the 7, strip it, do a little re-profiling you have one mean knife. But the extra length is kinda negated by the swedge in my opinion but if you don't mind a knarled up baton its really no issue unless you sharpen it. (I used a Kraton handled Ka-Bar for field work for a good while and it batoned just fine so the 7 would probably work even better)

Young Man,

You could try and get your hands on a Ritter/Becker design, the Doug Ritter RSK® Mk2 Perseverance. I don't think they are in production any more but they where manufactured by Rowen. They have produced the ESEE Line-up since their split with OKC.

I have one, it is kind of a hybrid of the 2 models you got your heart is set on. I do think the handle weight plugs are a bit of a novelty, but over all good design and Rowen has top notch quality control and fit and finish. You really can't go wrong with the ESEE 6 or the BK-7.

you might find one on ebay, or the forums
just throwing it out there hope it helps

later,
sharpish

Thanks for the kind words. Just to clear up any misunderstanding, the RSK Mk2 is still available, currently backordered, but a new run is in production at Rowen.

I liked the weights -- they're a way to fine tune the balance of the knife to your hand.
that said, I removed them when I added micarta scales to mine. :)
love that knife -- heck even my wife likes the feel and balance, and she's NOT a knife person.
