What knife would you recommend that is similar to a BK7, but outperforms it in chopping power? Similar in length, blade and overall knife style, and price.

Get a kukri !! There was a chopping test of a kukri and Busse ,both of the same weight .The kukri won of course as the weight of the kukri was where it should be , out in the blade !

it's a little bigger but my 12 inch tram cost me 6.99 at SMKW I sent it to siguy... (he will convex your edge for a nominal fee) in now out chops any large knife I've ever owned. ALso after you done with the other one I have a bk7 you can try out if you like... (but no one gets my tram) got to have it ready for when the Zombies come.

Don't have any specific knives to recommend, but I wanted to add somethin'. Just remember that impact dynamics are more complex than simply summing it up with terms like "weight forward", or "forward balance" or whatever.

I significantly increased the chopping power of my khukri when I modified it by removing a bunch of weight from out on the blade, and bringing the balance point nearly 3" closer to the handle. FWIW.

I would love to try a carbon 5 cs recon scout at 7" and 5/16 thick. I know the frowns upon the co. and also hidden tang knives here, but dont pay attention, cause i have a 7" recon tanto reprofiled that chops amazingly and it's only 1/4" thick verses 5/16 for the recon scout.

the weight forward feel and shock absorbing kraton handle are what make this 7" knife affective as a chopper.

A combination of blade speed, via wrist snap hits, and forward heft are what make a 7 incher a good chopper. My .02

A short khuk would be a great idea, always good choppers. The kabar camp knife is about the only blade shape that has tempted me to ignore a hollow grind.

get rid of the fat plastic scales on the BK7 and put a thin set of Micarta on, it changes the balance to weight forward and really improves the chop.

third one up is a STOCK BK7, second one up is a modded BK7

Did you use the stock bolts?

NAKED, that blade was modded by RangerKnives, i got it from BF's CsabaCanada. It uses different bolts.

I'm sure any of the knifemakers on here could do a mod like that for you. (or doit yourself)
