Hey all,

Just my first attempt on modding the knife that is becoming one of my all time favorites...

I made some wooden scales from a 30+ year old seasoned walnut, given to me by a friend a music instrument maker. I finished it with boiled linseed oil and beeswax. (Raw linseed oil witch I boiled with wax). However, I could not polish the scales.
I stripped the blade and added some patina. (mustard-lemon-vinegar solution).
I dropped the clip a little bit and put a convex edge on it.
Its far from perfect, with some major defaults on the scales. However, its an excellent sturdy knife, extremely usable and it has a bit of me embedded in it, so....:).
I am also waiting for some wooden scales from a renowned BF member, who was kind enough to make me some great scales (judging from his other work)
Hope you like it, but I would appreciate even more some constructive criticism, for my next project.

George

PS the pictures I took are not that great. I think it looks better up-close. Difficult thing photography.

darn it....what is wrong with the photos? I did put img etc...
sorry for that. anyone can help?

maybe it has to do something with my membership status? I think not, many registered users post pics.

I used the image button (img)the url of the photo (img) on flickr....shouldn't this work?

thnx people..really appreciate your positive comments.
Old school was what I was aiming for.
I would also go for brass pins, but I did not want to to epoxy the scales etc.

Wow, that looks awesome. I'm not a big fan of "old school" looking knives, but I like what you did to that BK9.

Looks great man. First mod? I didnt know someone could do better than that. some more practice and I see Some wicked stuff is on the horizon
