BK9 or Marine Raider

I think they both have their followers. As I've done quite a lot of hard work with my BK2, I've been meaning to get around to getting a BK9. So count my vote for the BK9.

I've been out in the woods all summer with my BK9 and a HUGE smile. I haven't tried the SP10 so I can't give a fair vote.

But I LOVE my 9!

I thought I wanted a Marine Raider, but when I saw one in person (in the case at Cabela's) I was surprised at how huge it was - almost laughably so. All I could think of was

Probably a good chopper though!

Nice pictures!
I too would get a Bk-9 but the length of the blade compared to my arm, It'll be close to wielding a machete in hand. *small arms & hand*

I am getting the feeling that the BK9 is not well liked around here.

Its a close tie, keep them coming please and if somebody could, pleas try and recommend the BK9 so Mr. Becker does not get his feelings hurt.

Yeah, I know right? It sucks so bad, I mean, must be just a bunch of hipe, right? Poor Mr. Becker......:D I'm sure he'll love it.

Good luck, and be sure to tell him about this community we have here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/827-Becker-Knife-amp-Tool Tell him to stop by....

Haha! It's totally a pirate knife!
It does chop very well tho

BK9 love aside, it's actually a touch choice between the two. The Ontario is several ounces heavier, and the edge needs to be reprofiled to maximize chopping potential. But at the same time it's a full 1/4" thick, and costs about half of what the Becker is going for.

i got a ka-bar when i was about 14, still have it actually, my next big knife after that was a machete. Then i played with a Junglas for awhile. After that I split into the axe/machete and small knife fixed blade croud.

As such, i suggest an ontario 18" but aside from that, which ever is cheaper! haha

They may call the BK9 "The King of Choppers" but I carry a Ontario SP10 Marine Raider.

The BK9 is a hair better at chopping but the Marine Raider is a better all around knife.

If I did the things I have done to my Marine Raider to the BK9 it would be snapped in half.

If I am playing around in my backyard I have no problem with a BK9 for if it snaps I go inside and watch TV.

If I am deep in the woods with no help other than what I have brought with me I choose the Marine Raider. I know it will not snap on me or the handles come loose. It will pound out work until the cows come home.

If they made the BK2 with a 10 inch blade, it may almost compare but I still would not trust the skeletonized handle.

Hey, there is a design for you Becker Heads, a 10 inch blade BK2. go head to head with the SYKCO 911, maybe call it the BK 211

I don't really see how you can see it that way.... Yeah, the BK9 is a touch thinner, but I think it has more steel in the tang, even with the skeletonized tang. Also, I wouldn't trust that tip on the Ontario, it just seems to week. Also, the handles on the Ontario don't seem to be as good as the Scales on the BK9.....

To each there own tough, you must be much bigger than I am, which isn't hard. :D
