Well just finished up the 9 sheath, I went with the horizontal for the 9 since a buddy borrowed the 7 for a trip.

Usually I throw a jacket or something on if I need to help the UPS guy unload stuff but yesterday I was busy and forgot. Was wondering why he was so fidgety then I realized I had a 45, 2 mags, Bk14, Crkt pocket knife, Multi-tool, and a BK9 all strapped on at the same time. Oopsy.

I may try to do a crossdraw at some point for it. The straps would need to be closer together though, Dunno have to think on it.

That there is a purdy sheath. I still have trouble getting my lines to be that clean with my homemade ones. I don't know how you guys get the F&F so stunning.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. After I finish the 7 I think I may build a drop sheath in this style too.

Obviously jealousy...I can't blame him. Great sheath!

great looking sheath!
how big does a 9 sit horizontally back there when you scout carry it? does it poke out both sides? comfortable to squat down, bend over, move around?

b/c i love the idea of a scout carry for a bigger knife, i just usually have a pack on when i'm sporting said bigger knives, so the lumbar straps make it not feasible as a carry location. maybe i need that sheath and to figure out how to frankenstein scout strap it to my pack....

OK, let me make sure I am understanding this right, as this "scout" thing is new to me (even though I used to be a Boy Scout!)

So "scout" carry looks like the sheath is horizontal on the belt at the small of the back? And crossdraw would be horizontal on the hip opposite the strong hand with handle forward? Makes sense. It does seem to be a good way to carry a large blade without it hanging down your leg.

I must admit though, that in all my years of messing with knives, and in the Scouts, military, and many years of camping/backpacking, I have never seen anyone carry a knife like this. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention? Maybe it's only carried that way in certain regions of the country? Is this style of carry popular at all? If so, I'm afraid I have been out of touch.

Anyway, I love the sheath design. Now I have the hots for one for my BK-7.

Nice looking rig you built! Is it as awesome as you though it would be?
