I have seen this site in the past before joining and I seem to remember that this forum was always talking about the Machax and how the BK9 was king.

Is the BK9 no longer king? I just scrolled down the whole first page and not a single thread title with the BK9 or Machax in it.

I love my BK9 and will always consider it my goto chopper. I am going to buy me a new one in a few months but am kind of worried that I may be told it is junk and I have to deck them. Do I need to get an Ontario RD9 or a Esee Junglas instead?

I am guessing the BK16 has stole the show for now.

The BK9 is still king...right?

The BK9 is The King not just for it's chopping prowess but it's performance at a multitude of tasks. It chops well but other's can out chop it, not many but some. But it's still light and controllable enough that I can get up close and do smaller stuff too. It chops the tree, splits the log, and shaves the curls to make the fire. I don't believe there is one knife that can do everything but the BK9 is as close as you're likely to find.

I have yet to see a video or review of somebody beating the BK9.

There is no known knife that is in the same class that can beat the BK9 in chopping. The Browning Competition can equal it but not beat it.

You find me one 9 inch chopper for under 100 bucks that can out chop the BK9, let me just save you some time, there are not any.

Have I woken up in Bazzaroo world where everything is backwords as compaired to what is normal?

and don't forget, if you throw it at buildings you can demolish them. Still the King.

TWWP (thread worthless without pics)

Evildick - I would like to bet that well sharpened Ontario 12 machete will outchop BK9 :) But it is not 9 inches...
BUT, BK9 is better than Jundlas, Rtak, and so on. Lighter and with better weight distribution.

If I was a 3rd world dictator I would line you up againest a wall and have you shot.

Not exactly 'beating' but I remember Mike (gavkoo) chopping with a BK9, Machax, one of his own blades and I'm guessing a fourth blade as well. The BK9 performed extremely well.

I can tell you from experience that the Junglas is a very capable knife.
I took 3rd place with it in the chopping completion at Beckerwest.
But........1st and 2nd were taken by a convexed BK9. :D

Here's a thread I posted with a little bit of BK9 chopping from a couple months ago: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1044793-Sunday-afternoon-Chopapalooza!-BK9-and-Siegle-Hardcore

And yes...the BK9 is still King!

I didn't specify size or price. As mentioned a good machete would out do it, I'm told that a Junglas will out chop it as well and I bet my Ontario Kukri would do it too. Granted those are not >$100 9" knives but I never said they had to be. I just said that if it can out chop a 9 than it probably can't make a feather stick or tent stake as well as the 9 can.

The Condor Golok can probably beat all of the knives but it is not in the same catagory. A chain saw is also not in the same catagory but can out cut a BK9. I have a backhoe that can go thru logs faster than any knife here but once again not in the same catagory.

In the world of 9 inch hard work knives for under or around $100 bucks nothing can out chop it. It has a natural design that justs lets it be best. Heck, the Machax was designed to be a better chopper but its not unless you are well traind with it to hit in the same place over and over.

The BK9 has went up againest many and has not yet failed.

I know everyone's seen this photo a hundred times, but I like to break it out when it's thread appropriate. I took this after I chopped down a little Red Bud tree we had in the front yard that had died. First time to use my 9:

I know for a fact the Junglas can not out chop it. It can compete but not out chop it. As I said before, only the Browning Competition can equil it.

I bet your Ontario Kukri cant out chop it either. Gavkoo and his Sparta could not even out chop it.

I do not believe you understand what a phenom we have been introduced to. It is not a normal knife but a freak of nature that should not be.

Its kind of like the Chevy Vortec head. It was not designed to be a performance head but on accadent it became a race head and replaced the BowTie head in race cars. It was not meant to happen it just did.

I feel this new Beckerhead group needs to go out and play with their BK9's a little more to understand.

No. It is no longer the King. The King is the United Cutlery partially serrated tanto commando bowie with hollow handle and bonus compass ring.

Hell yes, it's the King. :D
