OK! I know this has probably been done before but I need details on comparing these knives, I currently have the BK9 and I love it but I have heard good things about the RD9. So what benifits to I get with an RD9 over a BK9. Also if anyone has any pics of both these knives together so I can get a better idea of the size of the RD9.

Thanks for any info on this!

I have owned both and both were good quality solid knives. Although people say 5160 is the tougher steel, the BK9 was solid, but not as much the pry bar as the RD9 due to it's thinner profile. The becker held an edge longer, but did chip out easier than the RD9 which dented instead of chippng. However, it would take longer to get edge damage on the bk9 than the RD. Anyway, for straight chopping, brush cutting etc, either will work fine. I prefer the RD9 handles, but you can easily replace the BK handles with micarta ones from bill siegle, so that is not really an issue.

can't let it die! please, someone has to have some pics of these two knives together.

Patience, it's been a slow day and the old WSS. Maybe somebody will show up later that hasn't seen the thread yet.

One benefit of the RD9 is that when you buy it, you got a new knife. :D While, if the BK9 isn't too beat up, it might appreciate in value. :D

Hey Guys..

I have both..
Can take pictures tomorrow...

Which RD 9 would you like to see ? :)

I have both the clip and Drop points...

For a rough and tumble, beat the living $hit out of it knife.. Gonna be hard to beat the RD9

I also like the handle alot better on the RD9..

As you can see that RD9 Clip point has been Hammered through a few chunks of wood..

My brother in law said I was going to snap it in half...

So I had to prove to him that it woodn't!!

hope that helps..

Again! Thanks for the pics and info, I too wish RD was still a drop point but I guess I will settle for the new one. I plan to pick one up when I can. Again thanks!

Thanks for the info...

Born and raised in Bracebridge and still call it home, all the family and friends are still there and so is my mailing address. I've haven't worked in Canada now for over five years, the wife is in Peru, where I reside, but currently I am on a short two month contract in northern Queensland in Australia, back in Bracebridge in time for Christmas.

Lots of bears around Bracebridge, especially since the spring bear hunt was cancelled. My father hit one in his truck on the highway recently just on the outskirts of town, and friends living right in town in a subdivision had one in their neighbours back yard this summer (this worries me as they have three small kids), and my six year old god-daughter ran into one while on a cross country run with her school just outside of town in October, its a bit scary ...

and yes Santa's Village; Santa's summer home, is still drawing the crowds!

Sorry! I am currently on a fact finding thing for a future purchase well after new years. I also am one on these guys who buys brand new and babys his stuff unless I use it in the field. Thanks for the offer!
