BK9 with new slimline blue & orange scale

great scales, wonderful

but if you were going for a set of Team Colors...why didnt you go for a GOOD Team
hehe (as a giants fan, i am obligated to talk trash at least until september hehe)

At first glance the picture looks like a super clip point mod. Colors are cool. Not everything needs to be tacitcool. Good job thinking outside the box.

Those are quite nice. Don't want to get the ESEE debate rolling here, but should help when you set it down in the bush, but not attract every butterfly in the woods!!!

Thanks everyone for the great replies! And for the laughs from some of you in your postings, a time when I really need them...:D:thumbup:

rodogg I made them... there is a wealth of information both here on this site and on the web on how to make custom composites, it's easy to do just messy:barf::D

I love those! How's the ergonomics? is it really thin?

Sorry I missed your ?'s! I just needed to decide if I wanted to use the other half of the laminated slab for 2 handle scales for another knife and do up some different colored slim scales for my BK9 or just complete it, so currently it is just the one side.... The good thing about making your own scales the ergonomics depends on your hand and your grinding, with a different slim scale on the otherside it does to me feel great, the stock grips are great and I have big hands but I just like them slim and to me it feels like it gives the knife more of a blade forward presence which I prefer on a big knife of this size... the handle thickness when/if the other side is done will be 11/16th including the blade compared to 1" for stock thickness...

As a Chargers fan they are our division rivals and it's my sworn duty to call them that.

Go Broncos!

Haha. I don't really follow sports, and Tebow annoys me. I'm a Broncos fan of the Elway vintage. I haven't actually seen a game in years, and I live literally just down the street from their clubhouse. Yeah, that's right. They have a club.

Back on topic. Scales are looking nice. I'd be inclined to do some thin grooving with a file+dremel to bring out more of the character of the G10, but those are looking nice for sure. Great to get it looking all your own style, eh?

Black and tan or black and od would look great to me.

I was just thinking the same thing.I could possibly see Coyote brown with an orange edge.I like the idea of orange scales I've seen on a bunch of knives lately, but just couldn't bring myself to carry solid orange. Easier to find if dropped or whatever in the woods, but just too damn bright. But OD or Brown with some orange showing around the edge like this would tone it down enough for me to seriously consider it.Great job though Sweet!

Hunter Sharp I need to go pick up some new bolts for these scales, I bought a set for the last slim scale I did but have no clue where they are... it's comfy they way it is but I still have not had the time to get the other side done...

crimsonfalcon07 This is a custom lamination, I use to make G10 handle slabs a few years back but that stuff gives me the itches like a mofo so I have not messed with that stuff in awhile nor any future plans to do so..!

rickc71 I just made a OD & orangish slab the other night came out pretty cool so tonight I'll make another but layer the colors different than the 1st, Coyote brown & orange might be cool might look good....

Put some pics up of the od/orange when you get them done. That would be a great color combo.Just enough orange to make it easy to find with a od top so it's not such a retina burner.Like I said,I've toyed with the idea of orange scales,I just couldn't bring myself to carry solid orange, too bright. But made like this with orange in the scalloped edges would do the trick. Better watch out, you're going to start a new business if you're not careful.I can see guys lining up now for team colors and milspec/dayglo combos.I know I would. Great work!

Just stumbled upon this post.....oh yeah; Go Gators! Very nice blade you have there.
