The steels on both of these knives is excellent. They are hard to compare because of different blade geometries.
I thinned the edge out on a Bandicoot and CU/7 so that they were identical on my edgepro. They both show about the same resistance to blunting when cutting through wood or cardboard, which is excellent. They both respond well to steeling and are easy to sharpen. I prefer both with a coating, as the steel will rust (which is fine with me).
So for my purposes, I cannot really see a difference.
Now if you want to talk hard use, etc., I think it then is more dependent on the geometry of the blade and handle rather than the steel selection. The Becker handle is a little too thick for me, and the SR handles a little too thin for chopping (for me).
Can't lose either way. I'm still astonished at the price v.s. value for the Beckers.
