I have posted pictures of my black 560 at:

When I think of a smooth coating, I think of an enamel paint job on a car. My black 560 is not that smooth. However, It is by no means crinkly or rough. So I am beginning to think it is a matter of one person's definition of smooth versus anothers. You can see a texture on my 560, but it is a smooth texture.

Regardless, a very very sexy knife!

Great forum. Thank you!

SW,
Thanks for posting the photos of your black 560. As Joe mentioned earlier, it's like the powder coating used on car frames. Between the black coating and the limited quantity produced, this looks like a great knife to add to a collection of 110's and its variations.

You guys reminded me of another variation...We did do one with black crinkle coat. It was still a powder coat but they did something to give it that wrinkled look. Only samples were made if I remember right so they would be hard to find today.

That's great!!! Something else for Mike to add to his eBay "Favorite Searches"!!!... :D

I remember using that black crackle coat on something a long time ago...don't recall what...but it was pretty neat; it went on smooth, and as it dried, it expanded (or contracted, or both) and that gave it the crinkly finish...it was a pretty hard coating, too...looked pretty professional, and expensive...

Sure wish I could remember what it was on...
