For Sale – “Black Bear” Hunter

If you know us, you’ll know that we live up in the mountains of Colorado in a very rural forest setting. Last week, a dog owned by a friend of ours “up the mountain” from us was given a wake up call by a very large Black Bear right in his front yard. It was an “ass over tea kettle” swat that sent the German Shepherd mix tumbling down the hill. The dog wasn’t physically injured but I don’t think she’ll want to play tag with Bruno any more. Actually the very mature bear was pretty kind - as my buddy said it was more of a “Git the heck outta here kid” swat in the cheek that didn’t involve heavy use of its claws. That incident gave me an idea for a knife and sheath combo. Make sure you read to the bottom to see the connection to the Black Bear and the possible restrictions of sale.

Actual legally acquired Black Bear front claw. Measures approx. 2” around the curve. The tone of the picture makes it look almost raw but in real life it is dry and ready for use. *See note below.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This knife will be sold WITH or WITHOUT the actual Black Bear claw. Black bears are covered by CITES and are NOT FOR EXPORT OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES because of extensive paperwork requirements and delays. Therefore if a foreign buyer wants the knife, the claw will be removed from the sheath before it ships. The same applies if a domestic U.S. customers purchases the knife and their particular state does not allow the sale of Black Bear claws or parts. The law is restrictive upon the seller and I abide by all Fish & Game laws. If you purchase this knife and expect the claw to be included, I will check the list of states and their requirements to make sure I can ship it there. I purchase my claws from local hunters who legally collect them but If you are interested to see if your state allows or prohibits Black Bear “parts” you may refer to this link…

Price: Was $300 with claw - Now $250; Was $275 - now $225 without depending on government restrictions; plus $12.30 shipping to the continental U.S. (Note: the only reason my shipping varies is the cost of insurance)

I welcome International Sales - Overseas buyers pay actual freight and only Paypal is accepted for out of the U.S. purchases. If you are outside of the U.S. make sure you read the note above about CITES and know that the package will NOT include the claw.

Back with a rare price drop.... see above

My wife really wants me to take this one and another couple pieces up to Aspen to a shop we work with. I really don't want to make the day long round trip with only a few pieces. And according to her, we haven't been there for over a month to "schmooze". I need to be in the shop, not out "schmoozing".

SO, the first "I'll take it" on the forum saves the new owner $50 and it get's me off the hook at the same time. That's a win/win for all.

Aspen is beautiful when you're skiing or vacationing, but it's four hours up and another four back not counting time in town. And in that part of the state, there are two seasons...ski season and road construction. Although I do love the way the tourists and "townies" spend their money....Oops, did I say that out loud? No worry, knife forums are way below their status...or is it ability...;)

So who will get me out of the trip? :D

"Oh Muffy, my latte is getting cold...hop in the Land Rover and go get me another will you love?" :barf:
