Wow, this was a FUN build! I received an AG Russell catalog not too long ago, and inside was one heck of a knife...the "Sandbox Bowie". The inspiration for this knife definitely came from their design, but with my own take on it. The swedge isn't really all that sharp, but it is apexed. It wouldn't take much effort to sharpen it completely if you so desired, but the swedge does sport a "mirror" finish as is. Grind lines on the flats run lengthwise, and for a nice contrast the grind lines on the bevel run vertically. I like G10, hate working with the stuff, but it is extremely durable material. It was interesting trying to keep the "grain" of the G10 looking good when profiling the handle. It has G10 liners as well, an inner black, and middle white. The "pins" are actually stainless steel tubing, and they are chamfered. You can use them to lash the knife onto the end of a pole to make a spear. Because you never know when you need to make a spear! You may just be dropped into the African plains with a camera crew following you around, so you need a knife/spear so you can look cool! The steel is 52100 from Alpha Knife Supply, and was normalized and thermal cycled for fine grain and toughness. It has a thinner edge (the edge just did barely reflect light before sharpening) than most Bowie knives, but the heat treat is spot on. Now for a few specs, and then the eye candy...

OAL: 11.75" (29.8cm)
Blade: 6.5" (16.5cm) (measured from handle front)
Edge: 6" (15.2cm)
Thickness: .173" (4.4mm)
Edge: ~30° total, .010" at edge shoulder, 8 micron (2K Aotoshi)
Balance point is 10mm behind the handle front

Now "axeing" just SOLD, and accompanying it will be a sweet Kydex sheath with belt clip. You can disassemble my Kydex sheaths to clean them, and even move the belt clip to different positions. And, as always, I will ship it to free anywhere in the United States. (No animals were harmed during the making of this knife :)

Paypal is preferred, but I'll take a check if you don't mind waiting for it to clear before sending. Paypal is samuraistuart@yahoo.com

Thank you very much!

Well Hondo, if it's any consolation, all five of my children were born naked & our 2yo refuses to wear clothes most of the time...now I know why; you somehow sent your curse thru time! But that's alright, a small price to pay for this amazing piece by Stuart.
