from what I've seen the back coating on the blade holds up exceptionally well. about getting pimped, yeah you better like the knife I'm waiting for my TI Military that i payed through the nose to get pimped.
I can tell you from experience that the black coating on the PM2 blades wears EXTREMELY well. I EDC'd a Camo/Black PM2 for about a year, and at first I was bummed because my Emerson skull bead was causin wear marks where it rubbed the blade - so I thought. When I adjusted the lanyard so he bead no longer touched, I realized it was the finish on the bead that was being rubbing off, and that eventually 'wore off' of the blade … I used that knife to do everything from cutting cardboard to cleaning fish on the beach (yeah, that resulted in a full strip down/clean/lube), and that coating never wore through. Got a little scuffed looking and dull in spots, but I never saw steel through it …. eventually sold it off as a user … that knife was like an old pair of shoes - I shoulda kept it.
Just picked up a green CTS-204P and a Black/Black/Black here on the forums. I think the Black will be my new PM2 EDC and I might start pimpin the green one just for fun … *does anybody know where I can get a Black deep carry clip for PM2?
Bottom line - PM2 Black DLC coating is tough stuff.
